a/s scan

ok.. so i had my scan aug 20. (i know its been a while) and our tech was awesome and gave me tons of pics!
during my f/u apt w ob 3 days later, we went over the results he told me she has a echogenic focus in the left ventricle... then the very next sentence is "it really is no big deal, it happens we will just watch it"  he tells me that i should not even look it up that it would just worry me. well i did look it up and it doesn't seem to b that big of a deal... if she had one than one it would be alarming but its one. i have another u/s in 8 weeks! (oct 11)
Just wondering if anyone else has experienced this?

  • No experience with it, but I'm glad your doc doesn't seem to be alarmed. Hope it definitely turns out to be nothing!

  • It really IS no big deal.  It doesn't affect the function of the heart at all.  Kids 2-4 had/have it as well and are all perfectly healthy (so far!)  It's only a soft marker for Down's Syndrome and if there are no other markers present, then you're okay.  Most babies lose the EIF by 3rd tri, although DD and DS2 never did.  We'll see what happens with this baby.

    No worries mama!

  • I haven't dealt with that, but I know being told something was "found" on the A/S is super scary. It is hard at times, but trust what your doc told you.
  • thank you everyone
