Bad neighbors

Our neighbors suck we moved into a house that is next door to two small apartment buildings. The window to one apartment directly faces the side window to our living room. The people who live there are total trash. They hang out of the window chain smoking, have loud violent fights and beat the crap out of their dog. I have heard the dog whimpering and being beaten on several occasions. The other day when I returned from work the dog, a great Dane, was literally standing with half of its body outside of their window on the second floor. It was apparent that they had leashed him to the curtain rod?!?! He barked all day long. We have called the apartment complex two times to complain. They never answer or return calls. The next time that they have a screaming match or leave the dog barking all day we are calling the cops, anything else we can do? The man who lives there is a psycho, he is the one that we always hear beating the dog or screaming at his wife. We are making the complaints anonymous because he seems completely insane. I don't know if any of the other neighbors complain because this is completely ridiculous. Im ready to put up a 15 foot privacy to completely block the whole building off.

Have you called the humane society? They sound awful! But really someone needs to get that dog out of there. And also they need to get evicted.

I will do that. They are unbelievable, it's pretty disturbing

I absolutely would be calling the humane society and the cops until someone helped that poor animal.  I would not be able to sleep knowing that kind of cruelty was going on!

Good news! The property manager finally called us back, they are going to investigate the dog and smoking. She said that they a happy we said something, they've had issues with him in the past and needed a reason to go after him. She said that they are trying to get rid of him. I hope that they are gone soon!

As a former landlord who could not do a whole lot to evict a similar type of renter, please contact the cops when you see something. When we were able to use the police reports against the renter we could finally get them out as a result of breaking their lease agreement.  It may help their case too.

If anything else happens we will definitely call the cops

That's great! But please still call the humane society and police about the dog. That poor thing needs to be rescued ASAP.

That makes me sick to my stomach. 

A Great Dane in an apartment? I don't care how notorious they are for lolling about... That's inhumane in and of itself. But being hit, and screamed at? For the love of fuck. Call the Cops, the Humane Society, the ASPCA, a Great Dane Rescue... I guarantee you someone will come.

I'm not trying to be snarky here. But how long have you known this animal abuse has been going on? And why haven't you already called the cops and humane society? I would have called the first time I realized what was happening and I would keep calling until someone came and did something about it. It almost sounds like you are more concerned about having these people move than you are concerned about the poor dog.
