Runny Nose 14 month-old

My son has a runny nose non-stop throughout the day, sounds congested with mucus/boogers especially at night when hes trying to go to sleep, and coughs a tiny bit at night. At night he gets fussy and can tell he's uncomfortable because of the mucus congestion. We have a cool humidifier in his room, given him 1/2 tsp of children's Benedryl only at night, but don't know what else can ease his discomfort or make his mucus go away. His mucus color is clear. Im certain it must be allergies. Any suggestions??? Thank you!

I would ask your pediatrician to be sure it's allergies.  I wouldn't want to be giving my son benadryl nightly without consulting the doctor first.
