Trying to Get Pregnant

Sensitivity between tests/Urine dilution??

I've read bits and pieces on both but have heard different things. Are First Response tests more sensitive than Clear Blue Digital? Meaning FR will detect the HCG hormone earlier before CB digital will? I took both of them Friday morning and the FR line test was positive! A faint line but not one you could miss. I took the CB digital after that and it was negative. That was Friday......I was either suppose to start AF yesterday or today and it still hasn't come. I'm thinking since its been three days since the last time I tested that the CB might show me a positive tomorrow morning since FR did Friday?? :-/

Also, is it true that if your urine sits for a certain amount of time after peeing in the cup (any body know how long/minutes that would be?) that the HCG hormone will dilute and may give negative results for your pregnancy tests?? I heard someone say that...... :-/

Re: Sensitivity between tests/Urine dilution??

  • Yup.  I've read that FRER can detect 12.5, although I believe officially it is 25.  I've read both 25 and 50 for the digi.  I got a BFP on FRER and Wondfo in the evening of 9 DPO (super super squinter).  Digi was negative on 11 DPO but positive on 12 DPO.  I have no idea bout the diluted urine. HTH!

  • From all of my research, FRER are more sensitive than the clear blue digital. I have also read something about the ''half life'' of hcg, meaning that if you pee in a cup and wait a certain period of time, hcg will decrease. But if its all within a couple hours, I think your good. Don't hold me to it, but I would most def. take another pee stick before ''counting eggs before they hatch'' good luck!

  • Why are you keeping cups of urine long enough that you're worried about the hcg breaking down?
Son: Jackson, 11/02/06, stillborn due to PPROM and IUGR. Over the next ten years we had 9 miscarriages from 8-14 weeks. On May 18, 2016 my daughter, Ridley, was born. We're OADNBC.

I kinda wondered that? I pee, test, throw pee away.
  • Oh ladies! I didn't mean to sound like I was "storing" my pee. (Gross!) I toss it after I test as well. I just honestly didn't know how long before the HCG would dilute. I took one test that was positive and then took another one about 7 minutes later that was negative. So that's why I wondered. Someone through another forum told me that the HCG disappeared fast. So unless she was wrong....I don't know. But with never dealing with it before....I had no clue what to expect either way!

BUT.....I tested again this morning and got four BFP's!!! So it seems I did need to wait till the HCG level was higher for the Clear Blue digital to be positive.

  • The Clear Blue tests i took were positive while every other test i took was negative.  Definitely different for me.  Lmao
