Babies on the Brain

Hi ladies

Hi everyone.  I have made an intro before, but haven't had time to post anything lately.  Just to inform everyone, my husband and I celebrated our 1st anniversary in June, but have been together 9 years in October.  I have had baby fever since after the wedding.  DH is the one who "isn't ready" yet.  We have talked about TTC many times, and finally came to an agreement that our "goal date" is next summer...probably August 2014.  I would love to start TTC now, but he says he wants to wait a year.  Anyway, do you have any advice for us to prepare since we're a little less than a year out from TTC?  We are in a good financial state and plan to keep saving more money obviously.  I'm still bummed that he wants to wait almost another year, but I'm trying to respect his feelings towards TTC.  Any advice would be appreciated.  Thank you!

Re: Hi ladies

  • Hi! This is just my two cents so take from it what you want  :)
    1) Come off BC now. Yes, I know...you are waiting a year, but BCP can really mess up your cycles and some ladies have real issues after coming off. Again, just my two cents.
    2) After you come off BCP start charting your BBT. I use the Fertility Friend mobile app to keep track of my temps. You could also use OPKs around CD8-11 to find out when you ovulate. (You will only know when you ovulate with temping AFTER the fact.)
    3) It is never too early to start taking a daily prenatal multivitamin.
    4) Caffeine is not good during pregnancy so try to ween yourself off in the next year.
    5) If you have a few extra pounds to lose go ahead and work on it. If you exercise before pregnancy your doctor will be more willing to allow you to continue your routine, within reason. If you don't exercise before pregnancy you probably shouldn't during.

Hope this helps give you ideas!
