Uppababy vs Britax

So DH and I finally went to go start registering and after 3 hours got very little done! I did however narrow it down to 2 strollers and would love any opinions you all have or have heard on the two.

The first is uppababy vista. it comes with a bassinet and regular seat. The infant car seat is sold separately. It's about $300 more expensive. It doesn't fold as easily, but still not too bad. What I really love is the bassinet part and I've heard great things about uppababy.

The second is the Britax b agile. It comes with the car seat, and regular seat, but no bassinet, and there isn't a way to add one either. It's definitely a lot more cost efficient, and I've also heard a lot of great things about their brand. At the same time I've heard that bassinet strollers are really good for infants for their spines.

  • We got the Britax, and I'm hoping we love it. It was definitely the best one we looked at, and had the best ratings.

  • I looked at the B ready too, but the guy said that we can't attach the car seat to it. I feel like that could be important, which is why I was thinking the b agile. I don't expect to have 2 kids in a stroller, but you never know lol.

  • Simple!

    Uppa Baby = luxury
    Britax = practical

  • @hercules03 and @m&h2011 does it bother you that there is no car seat attachment? Did you then buy 2 separate car seats or just the convertible?

  • Thank you! I'll look!

  • @hercules03 I meant it like "you're paying for the name"

  • I got the uppaababy vista. I've been using it for the past 2 years for the family I nanny for and I love it. It's so easy to use and holds up very well!

  • Check out the bugaboo cameleon. They are expensive new, but we bought a very gently used one from a nice lady on Craig'slist for $300. It has the bassinet, seat and u can attach almost any brand of carseat to it. We used the bassinet attachementbthis weekend with my friends newborn and he slept soundly throughout dinner.
  • I have an uppababy and love it. Huge basket easy to steer. I don't find the fold that bothersome.

  • I'm crazy and have asked so many moms in malls (i mean a LOT) about their thoughts on the uppababy vista, since it was my number one. I have only gotten one regret. That mom thought it was too heavy. I have had other moms agree it is heavy but wouldn't trade it for anything. Their main focus has been how its lasted through all of their children and that the storage is outstanding. They never need a cart while shopping. Also comments on how well it handles and the smooth ride for their infant was awesome.

The uppababy vista is by FAR my favorite stroller of the 3 we have.

The basket is such a great size, so easy to push, love the bassinet, love everything about it

Edit to add that the customer service with my uppababy unit has been phenomenal.  I miss placed that bar that goes across their waist when in regular seat - they overnighted me a new one for free.  Free shipping and no charge for part.

When fabric ripped slightly on G-Lite they sent me a new unit, again for free

  • I have the Vista and hands down, my best or 2nd best baby gear purchase. It pushes like a dream, the basket is huge, and the customer service is amazing. The bassinet was a life saver when dealing with a colicky newborn. I think it folds very easily, and I love that it stands up when folded up.

  • We considered the Uppababy too but ultimately went with the Britax b-agile travel system.  We got a great deal on it from target, but we did go to the store and compare them to see what would fit and make sense for our lifestyle.  We tried to close it and all that at the store and the britax seems lighter.  i wanted the uppababy (for luxury) but felt that britax is more practical.

  • DH and I got the Britax B-Ready and I can't wait to use it!  We bought it during the promotion in June so we got the Britax B-Safe car seat for free!  I love that I can snap the car seat into the stroller frame without the regular seat attached!  Makes the stroller like a snap and go when using the infant seat. I think I was able to purchase the stroller with the free car seat on Amazon for $375 which essentially priced Uppababy out the running.

  • We have been contemplating between the Vista and the B-Ready. The Vista is our dream stroller, but I do believe it is more of a luxury purchase and the B-Ready is practical, so we are now leaning toward the ladder. We already have the Uppababy Mesa car seat so that is the only bummer. The Mesa will not attach to the B-Ready. However, I love the bassinet with the B-Ready so much, that I don't think it will bother me at all to use that instead of attaching a car seat.
  • We got the B-Agile travel system. My neighbors seem to love theirs. We went with it partially because it's only 16.5lbs. I have a back injury and am worried I won't be able to lift anything heavier.
Why do you need a bassinet when you have the car seat for the infant in the stroller? Is a bassinet stroller something most people find useful when they have the infant car seat attachment.

  • @kate14 the reason I want a bassinet, is because I heard keeping a baby in the car seat too long is bad for their spine. Plus, I've had a number of friends that have had babies and like having the bassinet for walks when the baby is little. They sleep well in it, especially on long walks.

You have the Mesa?! Where'd you get it??? So excited by this!
  • Yes, I do! I lusted after it online for months and just happened to stumble across a little baby shop in a small city in the Midwest selling them a couple months back. They had the color option that I wanted so we bought it on the spot! It is currently out of the box just so that I can stare at how pretty it is!

The bassinet is better for them when going for long walk.  And they should never be left sleeping in baby seat so I used the bassinet when on 1st floor and had a standard bassinet on 2nd floor of home.

Got it! Thanks. I didn't know that.
