XP: successful IVF protocol?

I hope you don't mind the intrusion, but I was hoping some here might be able to lend some advice to a friend of mine. She has had 2 IVFs and 2 FETs. The IVFs resulted in early miscarriages, the FETs were unsuccessful. She has an apt with her RE next week, and is wanting to discuss where to go from here. I thought maybe if some of you shared the protocols that led to success for you, she might be able to discuss these alternatives with her doctor. So, if you don't mind, I'd love to know what your IVF regimen was that led to your pregnancies. Thank you so much, and all the best to you!.

It's so dependent on diagnosis and previous response, but Lupron Stop with Assisted Hatching was the right protocol for me. I had been on an Antagonist protocol, but developed a dominant follicle and was canceled. My first Lupron Stop was not successful, but we added in Assisted Hatching, did pre/post transfer acu, and changed my progesterone to PIO for my successful cycle. It's impossible to know why that one worked while the other didn't, but it seemed to do the trick for my body at that time.

If I were your friend, I would definitely seek a second opinion. A pair of fresh eyes and a willingness to think outside the box may make all the difference. Best of luck to her!

As Ruthie said, it really depends on her diagnosis.  For me, my biggest issue was poor uterine lining, so antagonist protocol with a high stim dosage worked great.  For pregnancy #2, regular FET protocol with Lupron was a huge fail because it over suppressed me and my lining was extra crappy.   We used a mini-stim protocol (basically like fresh IVF antagonist but low doseswith no retrieval) but even then there are other factors than protocol....the first attempt failed and the 2nd try worked.   Only thing I did different was make sure my diet was extra healthy and did the full cycle of acupuncture, rather than just up until transfer.

Thank you for your responses. My friend is actually undergoing IVF because she is single and desires a child. Based on her blood work and examinations, she has no known fertility issues.  She was unsuccessful with 4 IUI's, and her RE thought she would be a good IVF candidate. She is considering seeking another practice. Again, I appreciate your time!

My IVF was a micro-dose lupron flare protocol which my RE choose because I am a poor responder.

Separate from the IVF, I later had two miscarriages and with my next pregnancy I took dexamethasone, high doses of progesterone, baby aspirin, high dose folic acid and also received IV intralipids all to try and help my body maintain the pregnancy.  Not sure if any or all of it helped but I did have a healthy baby.

Has your friend had repeat pregnancy loss testing along with expanded immune testing?  Perhaps that is something to explore if it hasn't already been done.
