Breech Baby at 3D Ultrasound

Hi ladies! Hope you all had a good weekend! I was wondering if anyone has any input on this subject at all. I had a 3D ultrasound. I'm 29 weeks and the tech said that the baby is in the frank breech position.

My baby has been on the right hand side of my belly button with its head up near my ribs and its feet right up there with it. Bum facing down. I feel LO pressing out of my stomach there about 5 times a day. It's been there for about 3 weeks. The tech said only 15% of babies haven't turned at this point. I know there is still lots of time for LO to turn. But does anyone else have LO in the same spot/position for weeks?

OH and she said LO is already 3.5 lbs and I'm on track for a 9 lb baby. Ouch :) and here's a pic of baby! And one of baby pushing out of my belly.

Re: Breech Baby at 3D Ultrasound

  • I haven't personally had a breech, but I have heard awesome things about the website spinningbabies.com. There is still time to flip but the exercises on the website are great for opening up the pelvis and allowing more room for the baby to flip. I have been doing some of the exercises just to help open my hips up.

  • My LO is in the same position. The tech and my MW don't seem concerned at this point and there is still plenty of time for her to flip. Ditto on spinningbabies.com. I get the same weird bump on my right side when she pushes out. I am 29 weeks.

I feel like I'm 90% positive Marlena hasn't flipped either. I feel a ton of "kicks" in my hoo haa area and bigger wider hits in my ribs but occasionally I can see jabs on the sides of my bump. But in the picture below you can see her weighing heavily on my bottom right side (that was Friday morning.) I'm also 29 weeks as of Saturday.

ETA: I was also going to bring this up at my appointment on Friday, since it's sort of been nagging at me that she hasn't flipped yet.

Don't mind my DH, he was trying to "compare" tummy sizes... lol

  • My baby is in Frank breech also. Midwife wasn't worried. Still have 10 weeks for him to turn.
  • Thanks ladies! That website is great! @amberrrjade you can totally see the baby popping out there! Crazy feeling eh! Fingers crossed they get in the rigt position soon :)
  • My lo is also frank breech. Found out at ultrasound about two weeks ago. His head and feet are to my left and he was also measuring 3 lb at 28 weeks. About a week ahead according to tech. When I had my 30 week appt Dr said I will go back at 36 weeks for another ultrasound to see if he had moved. Not sure how accurate this is but my nurse said frank breech is least likely to move. I dont want a c section but I guess its better than him coming out butt first!!
  • My son was just 3lbs 15oz at my 30 week 3D ultrasound! Yikes! But my daughter was full term and weighed 5 lbs 15 oz... Sooo who knows.

I hope that baby does a flip flop for ya!!
  • M my little guy is breech too and loves to hang out on the right side. My OB said she's not concerned until 34 weeks. There are some great maneuvers to get LO in the right position before birth. I wouldn't worry about it yet.

    Ditto!!
  • With my last pregnancy my baby was head down until 36 weeks and then flipped breech and ended up with a scheduled c section at 38 weeks. So it's very possible for your LO to flip before delivery. Even when you think they have no room to move, they still find room :)
  • Can they tell what position LO is in with out doing an ultrasound? I feel kicks and jabs all over so I just could not even guess where he is positioned right now.

Hmm good question. Apparently some midwives can feel your uterus and tell the position. I have an appointment tomorrow so ill ask her if there are any ways to be able to tell without the ultrasound.
  • My LO is breach also. I'm 30 weeks - we had an ultrasound last week. He's weighing in at 4 lbs already. Not surprising as my first 2 were 10 pound babies. Hoping he turns around though.

  • My last baby was in the exact position you described and so is this one! The last one flipped on his own at 35 weeks. He was 9.3 at birth. Hoping this one does the same.
