Pregnant after a Loss

PAI-1 (Elevated Plasminogen Activators)??

After having a recurrent miscarriage panel done, it was found that I had elevated plasminogen activators, which is also known as PAI-1.  Mine was a 64. Normal range is 4-43.   Has anyone else been diagnosed with this?  I have an appointment with a hematologist in a few months and was hoping to find others in my situation!

Re: PAI-1 (Elevated Plasminogen Activators)??

  • Yes, I have it another with the MTHFR mutation. There are a couple different mutations. I believe mine is 4g/5g and neither my ob nor hematologist were concerned. However, had I been 5g/5g or 4g/4g I would have been prescribed blood thinners. Do you know which mutation you are?

  • @runninggal900 I was told that I had no mutations.  I had 3 things come back abnormal, 2 things the rheumatologist ruled out as false positives.  Now I am waiting to see the hematologist in October.  My RE is saying we will do blood thinners next IVF.

  • I have two copies of the 4g/4g mutation. I'm only on baby aspirin since my DS wasn't small and my fluid levels were always ok.

I'll be honest in saying that I don't know much about it, as all that was explained to me was my particular mutation and the course of action with the other mutations. I'm not sure what it means when it's elevated with no mutations. Hopefully the hematologist will be able to give you some more answers and comfort soon. I'm on a daily baby aspirin since receiving my diagnosis and have had an uneventful 36 week pregnancy thus far after two back to back losses last year.

  • @runninggal900 great to hear!!  They put me on baby aspirin back when I received these results. So happy to hear you have had an uneventful pregnancy thus far! Sounds like baby aspirin did the trick!  I am ready for my third pregnancy to be my take home baby!
