Recommend a soft structured carrier

I'm looking for a good carrier for long walks. I push my older two in our double stroller to take DD to school. The walk is all uphill, so I'm not super comfortable using my Moby wrap or the ring sling. To many adjustments along the way. I want something more secure. I plan on carrying/walking to school as long as weather permits.

  • I love my Ergo and use it for 2-mile walks 3 days a week. Another carrier I love love love (but don't actually have) is the Kinderpack. I've also worn and liked the Beco Gemini.

Is there a babywearers international chapter near you? You can try out carriers for free at their meetings, and trained instructors can show you how to safely wear baby in them. Also, if you join babywearers international ($30 for one year membership), you can check out carriers from their lending library for free for a month at a time! That's a great way to determine if a particular carrier is right for you!

I'm not sure if there are other babywearing groups and organizations that provide these services, but you could google in your area and see what you can find. Good luck!

  • I like my boba 3G. It's comfy and I can nurse him easily in it. There is also a lighter version called the boba air.

  • What height and weight are the kids to be carried? I have an ergo performance, Tula Toddler, Kinderpack Toddler, and Bloo Kangaroo Kanga Sport XTP. The Ergo was great until we outgrew it. My favorite of all is the Tula. The Kanga is the lightest and coolest. The Kinderpack is ok but not my favorite.

  • Interested in these recommendations too. Can't get used to the Moby so looking for a soft shell carrier instead.

  • I love my Ergo! It's the only one I have much experience with though.
  • I love my Beco Gemini. It's super comfy for both myself and my husband, and easy to switch between the two of us. I've worn it for hour long walks, commutes involving lots if stairs, and on many errands. I cannot say enough good things.
