Tummy Tuck discussion

So...I've been asked if I am pregnant no fewer than 10 times in the last 6 weeks.

I'm gonna stab the next person who asks me if I'm KU. FWIW I did do 3 pregnancy tests just to be certain that my Mirena hasn't failed me.

I've gained and lost 50 pounds twice during the last 4 years. I had a csection w Hunter too. I think my ab muscles are non existent and I have a lovely fat flap above my csection scar.

I'm thinking seriously about a tummy tuck w some lipo. I researched it and it will be about $6-7k, none of that is covered by insurance. It's outpatient but I will be out of work about a week. I will go home w drains and an abdominal binder. I feel confident managing those :)

Here's the issue. Money. And PTO. And I still have 15lbs to my pre kid weight. BUT my boobs are much bigger now post kids(34c vs 36dd) and I have a lot of loose pudge that would be removed. So there's a few pounds. I have to get 1-2 sizes bigger bc of my dunlop and I'm starting to get depressed. My pants barely fit my waist and are baggu in my legs.Yes I'm eating well and around the same diet as pre kids.

Re: Tummy Tuck discussion

  • Honestly, I'd take up exercising first. It'll be better for your overall health (I'm just assuming you don't workout since it wasn't mentioned). It's also a heck of a lot cheaper :)

  • Can you step it up any? Go to classes at a gym, add in weight training, more intense cardio? HIIT workouts are great fat blasters. Just trying to save you money, but if you're set on the tuck maybe its not a terrible idea.

  • I would do it. It sounds like you are doing as much as you can via diet and exercise to remove the excess flap.  I agree with PPs about maybe stepping up your workouts a bit would help but I don't know if it would completely get rid of the excess flap.
  • I really can't do more intensity of exercise as I ruined my left knee when I used to run and my kids ruined my pubic bone and right hip. I'm an orthopedists dream. I had pubic symphysis diastasis and abdominal diastasis. The hip I just don't know what's wrong w hip. I still hurt in my pelvic region often. My OB said oh well and my hospital PT Dept no longer offers gyn PT and i would have to go out of network.

I can probably up my time and frequency in the meanwhile and start saving for the probable surgery. If not my tummy, then a boob lift and reduction :)

I feel like the oldest 30yo ever.

  • Umm yeah, I saw pics of what nikki#s is describing a while back and it gave me second thoughts on ever doing it. But who knows. If you've seen post surgery pics and still want to do it, go for it. I know it's a rough recovery but my moms neighbor did it with 7 year old triplets. I talked to her post surgery and she doesn't regret her decision at all. Exercise can only help so much, especially if you've got extra skin or separated ab muscles.
  • That's me too.  Always being asked if I'm pregnant!  I would do a tummy tuck in a heartbeat.  You can finance it through care credit.  and you can save pto.

I'm still gonna have another kid, but when I'm done, I'd definitely going to consider it!

  • Me too have a 5 months pregnant pouch and was considering a tummy tuck for a while. The price sticker and the scare of a surgery stopping me from doing it. If you brave enough and can afford it- go for it! Have you looked in to just liposuction? I understand it is less os a procedure and less money. But if you want a badass flat abs you should do the tummy tuck.
