Dadgear backpack & intro

Hello,

I realized I've never done a proper introduction. I've been on the website on and off over the past year, and have posted a few times. I'm a FTM to my son who was born mid May. He was born with an intestinal birth defect (that we did not know about ahead of time) that caused an intestinal blockage, which resulted in multiple trips to the doctor during the first week (they didn't look into it much at first) and finally a trip to the ER at 5 days old with an immediate transfer to our children's hospital. We ended up in the NICU for 2 weeks, and he had surgery to correct the issue while we were there. Needless to say, it was the most terrifying few weeks of my life! We made it, and he is thriving now. We still have some residual issues, but nothing we can't manage. He's a sweet, laid back kind of guy! I need to look up how to make a siggy :)

Anyway - My question. I'm on a quest to find a big diaper bag to hold more than our SkipHop Via (so small!) holds. I was looking at the DadGear backpack and it seems to have tons of room - but it might be too big! Does anyone have one? Thoughts? Appropriate for mom? Edit - I've only seen the DadGear online and not in person. I don't think any stores around me carry it.

  • Welcome and congratulations on your son! I'm sorry you had to go through so much but glad he is doing ok now.

I got this bag off etsy. It's not specified as a diaper bag but it holds a whole lot of stuff and my husband carries it. I got it in grey but it comes in tons of other colors. image

  • Welcome & congrats! So sorry about the rough start.

OiOi has dad bags on their website and Eddie Bauer makes backpacks. Hope that helps!

  • We got my husband a Filson bag. They are a little costly, so I wouldn't recommend them because you can easily get a similar bag for much cheaper. I like the Etsy one the PP mentioned above. Oh, and welcome!
  • We have a dad gear bag DH got as a gift. It's plenty big but pretty much just like a regular book bag on the inside, everything sinks to the bottom.

This. Wish it had more organization. I end up using ziplock bags to organize it.

Welcome and happy to hear your LO is thriving now!
