Not yet pregnant, but sort of trying

Hi! I'm new to this board, so bare with me if I do something wrong. haha

My husband and I are talking about trying for our first baby within the next few months. We are hoping to have some situations sorted out first (i want to pass my NCLEX, we need a house, insurance), but it's getting REALLY hard to keep waiting! We have been married for over a year, and a baby seems to be long overdue.

I was just wondering if anyone has any advice to give on pre-pregnancy plans, such as how to know you're ready, what we should look into medically, etc. I know you can't be absolutely prepared for everything that life throws you, but I would sure appreciate a few tips from some pros. :) Thank you!

    First tip, don't use your full name as your screen name on online forums. Never a good idea.

    My screen name isn't my real name, just a name I use for boards and my photography business. :)

    As of right now, we don't have any type of health insurance. I am hoping that once I get a job in the medical field I can get some kind of insurance. My husband's job will put my on his insurance, but it won't become effective until January 1st, 2014. We are for sure waiting until we have some insurance, though.
