How to do when relocating to Houston from AU 24wk pregnant

Hi,

I'm relocating to Houston, 24 weeks pregnant and will have C-section

I've never been to the US so I have some questions on what to do

Shall I find a hospital that I like first and then based on that decide on the doctor/obstetrician?

Or do I choose the obstetrician first and that will determine what hospitals can I choose?

Here, because people book hospitals as soon as you know you are pregnant it would be a matter or luck to get a room in a good hospital if you try to book when you are already 24weeks, is it also the case in Houston? 

Is there a list some where of good obstetricians? ideally specialised on c-section

Same about hospital, is there a list of hospitals ranked for delivery (I saw a list that ranks hospitals but it didn't focus on delivery, if they are ranked as general hospital they may be very good for other things but have very little services/equipment for delivery)

Will you have insurance? If so, you can look online at which Obstetricians are covered for your plan. I would first find an obstetrician you like before finding the hospital. A lot of the doctors have privileges at multiple hospitals. Do you know where in Houston you'll be living? You won't have to worry about booking a hospital early. Your c-section probably won't be booked until your a week away from delivery.

A specialy hospital just for women is the woman's hospital of Texas located in the medical center. That's where I've chosen to deliver. I had a few of the same concerns you do.
