August 2011 Moms

This day was full of win

Didn't start off so great, though.

Baby Boy graced us with his longest stretch of sleep ever - he was out from 11:30PM to 6:30AM buuuut DH effin' woke me up at 3:30 because he wanted some. I almost strangled him (I haven't had a single good night of sleep since last year - not even exaggerating here - so yeah, for him to mess up my one chance in MONTHS did NOT put me in a good mood at all). And then Baby Boy didn't want to go back down after his 6:30 feeding (he usually sleeps until at least 8), so I was up, too.

But then I took a nap. (angel choir sings) WIN

When I woke up, the girls were getting restless (DH was being a lazy butt and sat them in front of the TV since I wasn't there to help. Whatever). I suggested we go to the splash park. My suggestion was met with much enthusiasm. And I saved myself from having to tell DD1 that the kiddie pool is closed (it closes when school starts). WIN. WIN.

We got there and first thing I noticed was two big bouncy houses. My first thought was "Oh great. Now I'm going to have to explain to the girls that someone's having a party and we're not invited and so no, they cannot go play in the bouncy houses". Nope. It was a neighborhood party. Everyone was invited. WIN WIN. WIN.

As we got there, I spotted a friend (Z) of DD1's from daycare. DD1 knows that Z lives near the splash park, and she had actually asked if she would be there. Obviously, she was thrilled to see her. WIN. WIN. WIN. WIN.

I like Z's parents so we hung out while the kids played. WIN. WIN. WIN. WIN. WIN.

There was makeup and games and tons of fun things for little ones to do. All FREE. WIN. WIN. WIN. WIN. WIN. WIN. (I asked one of the organizers about making a donation, and they said they hadn't thought about it so they had no way to accept them.)

Then they announced that the corn on the cob and hot dogs were ready. They also had juice, candy floss, chocolate, and yogurt. You mean I don't have to cook AND it's free???? WIN. WIN. WIN. WIN. WIN. WIN. WIN.

During a conversation with Z's mom, I mentioned how DD1 has been asking to go to La Ronde (our local Six Flags) and how crazy expensive it's gotten. Well, guess who replied "Well, why didn't you ask? Don't you know I work there? I'll have tickets waiting for you at DC on Tuesday". ::cue jaw dropping:: WIN. WIN. WIN. WIN. WIN. WIN. WIN. WIN.

We finally hit the actual splash park after Z left. As we were putting the girls' swimsuit on, a friend of DD2's from her old daycare (S) happened by. WIN. WIN. WIN. WIN. WIN. WIN. WIN. WIN. WIN. A friend whose parents I got along with - and who also switched daycare at the same time as we did. I didn't know they were leaving, though, so I hadn't gotten their phone # or email and was kind of bummed about it. I made sure to get them before we left. WIN. WIN. WIN. WIN. WIN. WIN. WIN. WIN. WIN. WIN.

As I was talking with S's mom, I found out she also was not a fan of the last teacher the girls had at the old daycare. It just made me that much happier with my decision to switch. WIN. WIN. WIN. WIN. WIN. WIN. WIN. WIN. WIN. WIN. WIN.

And the cherry to top this all off. DD2 went to bed without a fight. HALLELUJAH!
WIN. WIN. WIN. WIN. WIN. WIN. WIN. WIN. WIN. WIN. WIN. WIN.
