PSA: New posters and Secondary IF

This is a post @PurpleIris30 responded with recently that I think deserves its own thread.

 “The secondary infertility or success after infertility boards both have women cycling for their second child. If you feel you must post here regularly, the general rule is that it would be good to remove pictures or signature references to children or pregnancy. If you are only an occasional poster and you don't want to remove those things, it's a nice courtesy to put a "sig warning," "picture warning," "child warning," etc. (as appropriate) in the title of your post or before a response. That way if someone is having a rough day, they can avoid as appropriate and still have this board as a "safe place" to come for support. "

Many of the ladies here do not have children; we have not experienced all the joys of motherhood. While we understand you share the struggles of IF with us, I believe the struggle is a little harder when you don’t even know the feeling you are fighting for. We hope and pray we have the opportunity to become mothers with our take home baby so we can find out how amazing it is for ourselves.

While I know we all need some support, know there are many boards available. Please select the most appropriate board for your situation.

Dear members of our community,

If you see a post that does not offend you, but you feel it might offend someone else, please direct the post to the proper board and ask that the post be edited so it will not hurt someone who might already be having a really bad day.

Sig warning

 

 

Oh my goodness. I feel like a complete jerk. Really. I do. I used to post on the Secondary IF board when I first joined TB, but then it died. So, I stopped checking the boards. When I came back, this one was much more active, so I started posting here, never thinking to put a "sig warning". I am so very sorry if this ever offended anyone. Seriously. I feel like a jerk, but not on purpose. This is my most humble public apology for never even thinking about it.

Thank you for the reminder to be more thoughtful. If I ever upset anyone, you have no idea how sorry I am.

This is a great reminder. I do think that in general, if you are TTC #2 through IVF, you can post here but please remove pics or sig indications of your LO if you plan to post regularly. Personally, I think the more IVFers the better, and if it were me dealing with 2IF, I'd be bummed at how slow that board can be. So definitely just edit those sigs and post up over here as needed. I've seen many 2IFers navigate this very well on the IF board.

@poohniki - thank you for posting this reminder. We have had a few new posters/2IFs who probably didn't know better... this gentle reminder was much needed.

I as well hope I haven't offended anyone. I always try to remember to put a PAIF response at the top of my replies as well as I try to only chime in when I think my opinion or advice could help someone. I have no idea what's in my siggy anymore. I'm always on mobile and I HATE the new format so I don't even attempt to change my siggy. But I'm positive there are no pregnancy tickers or pics of midgies. I miss y'all ladies and hope everyday that each and every one of you get to move over soon.

Very well said! I don't think anyone is being malicious, but it can be hard for us IVFers on an already bad day. Thanks for posting a friendly reminder!

i appreciate this post poohniki ... esp your line about not yet knowing the feeling we're fighting for  - made me tear up. but of course GL to all who are in this fight!
