I had my daughter via C-section on 8/4/13 and it's been about 4 weeks since then. My husband wants to try again and I was just wondering I anyone knows how long I should wait to try again or If it's perfectly safe to go ahead.
I would wait until your postpartum visit. They say 6 weeks usually before putting anything in your vagina. Also most docs want you to wait at least 6 months to get pregnant again to let your body heal.
Not only is there a gaping wound inside your uterus, you have just had major abdominal surgery. It takes the body 5 years to completely heal from a c-section. However, I think that giving yourself 6 months to a year in between birth and getting pregnant would be optimal. You should definitely consult your doctor about this. The reason to wait for 6-8 weeks after delivery for sex is because of the risk of infection which could lead to a hysterectomy.
I was told at least 12 months. You uterus was just cut open. It needs time to heal and for the uterine walls to thicken up. At least that is what my doctor said. GL!
My doctor never told me a specific time. I had my son on Dec 20, 2012 and I am currently 26 weeks along with a daughter. This one has been harder on me and my body and I do know that I have heard at least 12 months or so but my doctor never specifically said anything. We had sex the same day as my 4 weeks post-partum visit and was ok'd to have sex. All my doctor said was to use birth control of some sort or I would likely get pregnant quickly...he wasn't lying. I had a period on Feb 28 and conceived 2 weeks later!
