disappointed... scared... hopeful...

Hi, so my first OB appointment did not turn out exactly as expected. The U/S revealed a 5 weeks sac and nothing else could be seen. By LMP I should have been 6 weeks and 5 days! The OB told me that this can means one of two things: a) you ovulated late and that is why we do not see anything yet (good news) b) it is a blighted ovum which may lead to my third D&C (bad news)  

I will hear back from her on Sunday to see if my hCG levels are doubling or not. I think she wants to do another U/S in two weeks.

I am holding onto a tiny, little hope..... could I really be so off with LMP? my cycle is typically regular.

I appreciate if you could say a prayer for me. Thanks.

raffaellaheath I am in the same boat as you... almost exactly.  My LMP was 7/12 and I had my first u/s today.  They saw a yolk sac, but no fetal pole.  However, I KNOW I ovulated late because I was using strips.  According the the that, conception would have happened 31st or 1st.  So really I'm probably more like 6w1d at best.  Still, I was pretty scared/disappointed and holding back tears. That is until I spoke to my 2 closest friends who are the only ones besides my family that knows about this.One friend had the SAME EXACT situation as me (no fetal pole at what she thought was 6w5d after a previous loss) and now she is due in October.  The other friend didn't even have a yolk sac with her second pregnancy at 6 weeks.  She now has a healthy 18 month old.  I hope this gives you hope that it's given me.

I am praying! I am in the same situation as well. I went to the dr. on Wed. (6 weeks 2 days by LMP) due to light spotting and the U/S revealed a slightly larger sac but nothing else. The Dr. then sent me for blood work to check hcg levels. I went in again today for a 48 hour reading to confirm a blighted ovum only to get a call saying that my numbers were rising appropriately. I have another U/S scheduled for Wed. but have no idea what to think. I was convinced I had mc and even told my parents I had. This is going to be the longest 5 days of my life. Prayers are much appreciated.

I hope everything goes great! I think Levels rising is definitely a great sign. I had other mc but, for some reasons, this one would be so much harder. Lets stay positive and have faith! I spent hours online and found that this exact same scenario happens a lot.

Try not to lose hope. I was in the exact same boat as you two weeks ago. They gave me the same possibilities as you and booked me for a scan 2 weeks later. I had that scan this morning and everything was great! I got to see my little bean and there was a strong heartbeat. I know how hard it is to wait and I am crossing my fingers for you! Good news IS possible! I was afraid I was being naïve hoping for good news but it worked out for me.

Thank you so much for sharing! I feel much better now than this morning. I just hope hCG go up and she calls me before Labor Day otherwise I'll have to wait until Tuesday!

Tbh the lmp only works if your cycle is 28 days. Mine is 39 so I should be 2 wks furtger by their math

Wow. This is very encouraging to hear that other people have had positive results. I (like some others) are in your same boat, sister. I decided to trust that God would be with me, either way. And I'm believing it. You're not alone. Several of us are in this with you band many women before us know the agony of waiting. Not going to lie, I did get rather upset with my OB. I might have preferred he lie to me until my second labs came back. My husband says to be positive because a stress isn't good for me or little pea/blueberry/ whatever size he/she is. It's true. Do some nice things for YOU this week. And DON'T feel guilty. Thoughts and prayers to you.

FYI, they called last night with my blood work results.  My hcg was fine at around 15k but my progesterone had dropped from 21 to 9 in the past 2.5 weeks.  They put me on progesterone suppositories right away. I hope the combo of no fetal pole and dropping progesterone is a coincidence .  Hopefully your levels are more stable.

It is not unusual that your actual GD is off from your LMP as you could have ovulated later than normal. ((Hugs)) I'm sending you positive thoughts.
