I am nervous only because I was adopted and know very little about my medical history! Also I am sure this has been asked a million times but do you know if it is an external ultra sound? I am assuming it is cuz they are asking me to drink tons of water before I get there. TIA!

Re: Have my NT scan today!
I can kinda relate to your anxiety about your medical history, my Mom was adopted so we also know very little about that side of my family history. Enjoy the moment of watching your little one wiggle around on the ultrasound screen, it was the funniest thing in the world to my DH yesterday when we had ours.
I had mine yesterday and it was external. DH is adopted and we do not know his medical history which is a big reason we opted for the Scan. The bloodwork is just a finger-prick and didn't hurt at all. Let us know how everything goes! Enjoy seeing your little one
I was adopted as well and have already been for genetic counseling. I will also be 35 at the time of delivery which increases the risks for certain genetic disorders. I was supposed to do the full 1st tri screening tomorrow, but since I've been having some spotting and cramping since a car accident a week and a half ago, they can't do the blood work part of the test. After the NST they're going to decide whether it's advisable to do the CVS (which has me much more worried.)
Good luck,
Brenda
I had mine yesterday. It was external. Make sure you have a full bladder. We had a hard time getting the baby to move into the right position!! It took almost 45 minutes before we could go ahead with the scan. It is really exciting to see the baby for that long.
I thought some parts were a bit painful. They had to push really hard to get certain angels. It was worth it.
Good Luck.
