Nose frida - yay or nay?

Heard great things about this little snot sucker. Should I get one?? And if so, how many extra filters should i get (how long does one last)?

TIA!

Re: Nose frida - yay or nay?

  • Yes!  It is great - I actually got two at my shower and ended up keeping both so I've never never had to buy replacement filters since each came with like 3.

DD hates it, but it works.  You have to suck really hard to get anything in the filter - in two months, I haven't had to replace it.  I highly recommend getting Little Noses saline spray (the pump spray, not the drops) to use with it.
  • It wasn't for me. I got the Zoli electric one. I was able to get it done faster since my kids are swatters.
  • Definite Yay!

DS hates it, but it works and helps clear him up so much better than regular bulb.

As for the filters, I guess it all depends on how often LO will get sick. You can buy a pack of replacements (the original packaging I bought had 3 replacements) and buy more later as you need them.

  • We love ours.  Lots of short quick sucks works better than longer ones in our experience.  We haven't needed additional filters in DD's 2 years.

  • So we got one, but lately I'm thinking we aren't going to use it. I've heard lately a lot of people complain about it making them sick. The filters only filter out the actual snot not the airborne germs you are directly inhaling... Does anyone have any thoughts on this? I know that as a mom you are getting a lot of your kids germs anyway, but I'm wondering if it is really worth it to be being so blatant.
I've never gotten sick from my child (so from using the NoseFrida) and DS was sick A LOT this past winter.

  • I always feel like I'm going to pop a lung when I use this because I feel like I have to keep sucking one long suck to get those ones that hang on. I much prefer my Graco battery operated aspirator. It plays music, too, which helps to distract the kid sometimes.
