Ovarian cysts--the source of pinching sensation on right side only!?

Could this be a growing cyst? I was concerned more by the fact that it was only on one side than by the fact that I felt weird cramping. It sholkd be on both sides, I thought. Google led me to reading about ovarian cysts. Apparently usually harmless and resolve themselves, but occasionally burst, cause pain, or require surgery. Any other moms experience this--either now or in the past? My nurse practitioner just dismissed it as nothing, but I'm worried.

I had a huge cyst (grapefruit sized) that caused absolutely no pain. I have also had weird pinchy feelings while pregnant and while not-pregnant that were totally not cysts. Who knows what's going on it there. Cysts can happen, can be nothing, can resolve themselves, just as google said. If you're not in excruciating pain I wouldn't worry too much. If it is too bad, call! They could check on u/s. Otherwise they'll check your ovaries at your first regular u/s.
ETA: In the meantime, step away from Dr Google!

  • I had sharp pains on one side when I had a cyst. Not pinching, more stabbing. Give your doc a call if it would ease your mind, but I agree with PP that if it's not super painful, I wouldn't worry.

Thanks for the replies. Ladies. Iggy.d: Did your grapefruit-sized cyst require surgery? Damage your ovaries or require their removal? Or was it no issue at all and resolved itself? That sounds not-fun! But big congrats now on your pregnancy. Clearly, it was not a big bump in the road!
