pillow

Has anyone given their LO any sort of pillow for their crib?
I think DD would really like one, she'll ball up her blanket and put it under her head sometimes. When we let her on our bed she always puts her head down on our pillows.

One of my friends gave her son one at a year. My main concern would be SIDS, is that still as much an issue at this point. Thoughts?

Re: pillow

  • SIDS is still an issue but less likely after 6 months. For me, the fear will never completely go away and there is no way I would put a pillow in there. They don't need it.

  • Dd likes to have her flat. So, this has never crossed my mind. I would have a SIDS worry as well.

  • Yeah, no pillows in this casa. SIDS is still a factor. Also, H is all.over the crib at night; there's no way he'd stay on a pillow.

  • No way I wouldn't do it he moves in his crib a lot. he has a small square blanket that he likes to cuddle with and that scares me still and its even a light blanket that he could breathe through I still check on him
  • After thinking about this for a few days I seem to think the recommendation at the time that DD was little was that pillows shouldn't be used until at least 2 years of age. And at that time it should be really flat.

I believe we let her have a pillow when she moved out of the crib into a bed at a year and a half, but she didn't really start to use it until about 2.5-3 years.

DS is super squirmy and is all over the crib at night, so he won't get a pillow until he moves to a bed for sure. That will likely be 1.5-2 years as well.

I haven't looked into actual current recommendations this time around.
  • thanks ladies- we'll be waiting
