My husband and I are having FIRST baby (hopefully of 2) and trying to figure out how to plan our nursery glider purchase.

One thought was using it only as infant for nursing/getting baby to sleep and then moving to another room or for our second baby. The other thought was to keep it with the baby's room as she grows up (since we are getting a fully upholstered glider)
- If put a fully upholstered one in nursery, do most moms keep it there for life of child? If not, how long use it after birth? (reading stories as older?)
- If have a second baby within 1.5-3 years after the first, would it make sense to move it to 2nd baby's room or would we still want it in first child's room?
- Why do mom's move gliders to another room (if you do)?
Re: Upholstered Gliders
We have two. We bought the first for DD's room and then after she was born, we realized we really could use a rocker/glider downstairs (we have a very large home and a colicky baby) So we got a second one downstairs, in a neutral color. Now the second glider is in DS' room and we have since bought large leather recliner/rockers for our great room.
I still use the one in DD's room (she will be 3 next month) It is wide enough that we can sit side by side and read books together. Also helpful when a sick kiddo needs comforting in the middle of the night.
Best brand gliders are custom made in the USA. Highly recommend.

It wasn't super easy to nurse in at first b/c I needed something more upright. But once we got the hang of breastfeeding, it has been so comfortable. DS and I snuggle in it, I nurse him in it, we read books together, I've rocked him in it when he's been sick or cranky, and I have napped in it more times than I count. We've got another couple of years before we have another baby, but I would keep it in a new baby's nursery for MOTN feedings. I figure by then we'll be able to sit with DS on his bed for bedtime stories, or do some of that routine in the living room. And when we're done with babies and ready to replace our living room furniture we'll move the recliner back into the living room.
