UO

It is Thursday, right?

By golly, I don't think I've ever started one of these...

Re: UO

  • I kind of roll my eyes sometimes when people say their LO "loves" something--products, especially, where I think really the kid probably has no opinion and the parent is projecting.

Ex: "we have a Britax Marathon and Baby LOVES it. We wouldn't buy anything else." That sort of thing.

  • Not a UO, but do NOT eat an entire container of sabra hummus. You might die, and it's 800 calories, and you will probably die.

I guess my UO is that I strongly prefer TJ's to Sabra. It's got better flavor and smoother texture.

But yes, complete jars of hummus are to be avoided.

TJ Triple Layer Hummus....My absolute favorite! (Bonus TJ Hummus is super cheap compared to Sabra!)

    I also love Sabra.

I'm undecided on hummus. On some occasions, I love it, on others, I literally dry heave.

  • I love Sabra. I haven't tried TJ's because we don't have TJ here  :((

However, my kid freakin' loves hummus (this I am sure of), so I started buying huge things of chickpeas at Costco and I make my own.

Hannah for sure prefers her uppababy vista over our jogging stroller. She's constantly trying to break out of the jogging stroller, and she just hangs out in her other one.

People who are condescending towards those who tan in tanning beds, but balls out tan by the pool. Mmmmkay

This is my SIL. She'll lecture everyone about how tanning beds may as well be coffins, meanwhile lathering tanning oil on and frying in the sun all day.

  • I'm not a big fan of people posting pictures of their LO's nude or topless (little girls) on Facebook.

They are babies. Little girls are the same as little boys at this age. They don't have boobs they need to hide.

My kid is topless in probably 80% of her pictures. And she was for her cake smash pictures adn they will be on my FB.

That's fair. She has a point of comparison. Showing preferences is totally reasonable. My statement is more about people just deciding that their kid loves something when really, he/she probably doesn't really care one way or the other, or has not experienced a different way, etc.

I'm no longer concerned about Kate being weaned off a bottle and/or paci at 12 mo. It's a product of exhaustion.

We didn't take Tessa's paci away until she was after 2 and so far, she still has all her limbs. She'll be fine.
12 months is just a number. Don't kill yourself over it.

Linden still nurses to sleep. I'm sort of setting December as a goal to kick that (and based on recent bedtime behavior I think this is totally doable), but I'm not all that worried.

I cannot stand the arroganc of NYers and their sports teams. I was handed down a Boston Red Sox dress for G. I will put it on, post it to my FB just because the Yankee fans will flip their shit. I couldn't care less about any sports team, but I will absolutely do what I can to piss of the Yankee/giants/jets/mets whatever lovers.

As a Giants fan who is friends with plenty of Eagles/Cowboys/Redskins/Patriots/insert team name here, fans, I can tell you that it's not a New York thing, it's a die hard fan thing.

I'm a die hard Yankee and definitely not from NY. BUT, I think it's all about the rivalry. You wouldn't elicit the same reaction if you put a Padres dress on.

Absolutely. I agree about the rivalry, but some of the people on my FB are ridiculous. I have no idea who the padres are. New Yorkers in general are arrogant.

There is NEVER a bad time to say those words!!

  • I don't miss the squishy baby stage, I love to watch Vader's personality develop. I like the toddler stage so much more than infancy.
I'll add, I'm not weepy because my baby is turning 1. Maybe it's because I'm going to have another baby. Maybe it's because newborns are the debil.

I think daycare should be subsidized - or at least in part. Otherwise it's kinda pointless to work if 90% of your monthly pay goes toward daycare and the other 10% goes toward gas money to drive to your job.

Then again, it could be argued that children are an expense that you're 100% responsible for. There's a grey area.

Either way, daycare is stupid expensive.

As an afterthought, we have co-operative daycare here, which is really great for families who have to work and can't afford $50 a day for childcare. Basically each parent has to dedicate time at the daycare, meaning they receive their childcare for free providing they dedicate a couple hours a week. Cool idea, IMO.

I think it should be like a sliding scale fee, relative to your income and COL.
I always wished that the places I worked had a daycare. I don't know how it would work cost wise but I am willing to be that if places offered this for a fee employees would love to take advantage of it. I would love nothing more than to be able to grab my girls and head off to lunch dates with them.

  • @icedcoffeeluv - we have onsite daycare and I LOVE it.  Cost-wise, it's barely cheaper than the really good daycare centers around here, in line with the average ones.  But it is a really good daycare.  And yes, lunch breaks with baby-time is the best thing ever.  They really can turn a day around.

@redneckmomma25 - Cubs fans are pretty bad too.

My UO - I too don't like naked pictures of babies online or on IG.  I know lots of moms are okay with this, but I don't even feel comfortable putting a pic of our big kid in his underwear online.

I second hating the baby-stage.  I also hate pregnancy.  I endured it all for the stages 6 months or later.  I love when their personailties develop and they are more interactive.  Not that I don't still love baby snuggles, just not 24/7.

I don't like this either. My first reaction is always "Cover up your kid!" My hairdresser posted a pic of her almost 3-year-old daughter fishing, with no shirt, and I just thought it was wrong.

  • I know we've talked about it before, but not every NB is cute.  My SIL had her baby last Thursday.  Holy moly.

In other news, my other SIL is pregnant, I'm the only one she's told and I think she's going to tell the rest of the family at N's birthday party on Sunday to avoid the crappy comments from everyone.  She's 27, has been with her boyfriend for 8 years, has a house with him, good job, etc. and yet "YOURE NOT MARRIED!" will still be an issue.  I hope it's not a UO that I really don't see the problem with that.

  • It really pisses me off when I worry about something, and DH tells me, "Why worry? It's not changing anything." Likewise if I'm stressing that I don't have enough time to get everything done and he's saying, "You can only do what you can do." Yeah, I know, but it still stresses me out!

  • A friend of mine just used my Coach Factory account to purchase a Coach purse because I had a sale available to me that wasn't available to her.  I am TOTALLY jealous right now and will continue to be because all of her confirmations, shipping info and everything else will come to my email.  I also really want to look at what she purchased, but I feel like it is an invasion of privacy.

UGH MH does this too and it pisses me off so much.
  • DUI laws (at least in Wisconsin) are ridiculous.  I can't understand how every week on the news we have some asshole who has had 3, 4, 5 DUIs and isn't in jail.  Really?  My DHs uncle has had 4 DUIs.  4.  Why are you allowed to drive?!  License revoked!

This. Also, MH is always calm...always. I don't know why it bothers me, but sometimes I wish he would get mad, or upset or anything. He doesn't 'deal with things' the way I do, (his words) which kind of makes me feel like he's judging me.
What kills me is that DH is NOT always calm. We just get worked up about different stuff, lol
