December 2013 Moms

Please just let me sleep!

The powers went here around 2am, and hour later house alarms are still going off. How do people not hear their own alarms going off, isn't it the whole point, to alert you in the night for trouble.... And DH screw you with your loud snoring, aliens could be attacking and he'd still sleep through it. I'm lying in bed eating a carrot being as loud as possible with a hot coco milk :)

  • I hope you get to sleep! Can you hit DH with a pillow just to feel a little better haha :)

  • Oh no!! I'm sorry you're unable to sleep. I've been having trouble getting back to sleep in the middle of the night after my pee due to DH's snoring, too.

  • I was so entertained by all the American food educating that was going on today! It made me so hungry :) I'm one of the newbies this week and noticed you live in England. I love all things English and studied English history in college. I'm not much of a cook but loved the recipes everyone has sent you :) they are definitely good ones.

Aren't they just so inconsiderate lol
  • This past winter a duplex down from our apartment blew up ( building was leveled) and my BF and son slept right through it. Seriously?!?! What my BF did wake up to was the sirens and he was mad that they would use them so early in the morning. It is amazing what people can sleep through.
  • My DH wakes up at 4am to go to work but let's his alarm go off every 10 minutes until 5! Pre-pregnancy that was fine I slept right through it. Now I'm wide awake and don't get back to sleep until 630 or 7 :(

Ooo I like you already! I studied English History too!! What topics did you cover?

Yes I needed to be educated on proper food! I will be doing a food blog every week now on my American Culinary Journey .:)

  • I covered from the Norman invasion until the Hanover's pretty generally. I focused in the Tudors in college and now I've been studying the Victorian and Edwardian eras myself. I love the Tudors! I visited England when it was the 500th anniversary of Henry VIII I was in heaven!

Sounds like the same as me, I concentrated on The Tudors and The Reformation. I am obsessed with Anne Boleyn and focused my last year on her alone. I was in London then too! I visit The Tower every year around the anniversary of her death.

I've never been a big fan of anything after the accession of James I, and Victoria just annoys the hell out of me to be honest. Her attitude towards her children hurts me deeply.

They love the taste for some some strange reason. They roll around with it like they would catnip it's ever so bizarre. We had to wrestle with them before they attempted to eat them lol!

Yeah she sucked in regards to parenting. I've read some cool stuff about her daughters and her grandchildren. That's the part that interests me. I love Anne Boleyn- I got chills when I went to the Tower. Catherine of Aragon is my favorite- poor girl just couldn't win :(

I can't handle the Stuart's they annoy the crap out of me!
  • Your DH deserves a good push off the bed. You should definitely do it

My elbow is digging in his ass as I type, he's slowly moving across.
  • I just like that you're eating a carrot and drinking hot chocolate. It's like you're pregnant or something.

DH calls me a freak as ill go get a carrot, wash it, cut off the top and sit there eating the outside bit leaving the sweet core till last. Oh and I love eating a cup of frozen peas!!! Mmmm need frozen peas now!

I read a book not long ago that had all her letters in to her daughters. I loved the fact she shipped them all over the world and basically told them to deal with their own problems. Now her daughter who married the tsar of Russia had some horrible situations, can't remember her name off the too of my head but I cried my eyes out reading her letters.

Oh poor Catherine in the end, I felt sorry more for Mary than Catherine. But I can't believe she was at Ludlow for over 6 months with Arthur and didn't consummate the marriage, some serious side eyeing right there!

Added: I feel very sorry for Mary Stuart, I feel she was placed in a trap by Essex and Cecil. I think it was very wrong of Elizabeth to even sign her death warrant if she was still in two minds about the situation. That's if you have heard the story of that situation.
  • I won't deny that I have woken up to DH snoring and hit him repeatedly with my pillow in an effort to make it stop. Neither one of us falls back to sleep very happy after that.
    Snoring is annoying.

I've only hit DH once, and that was when he was saying another girls name in his sleep, with his deep sexy voice he does for me. Made me very angry that did!
  • Put your cats favorite toy or treat on him and let them get him.
  • Brutal! The alarm thing would drive me nuts!

Good point! Ill have to dig out the box in the AM and have a look!
  • Brutal! The alarm thing would drive me nuts!

Back in the day when I was a Wee Lass and living with Mom and Dad, the power went and the old man next door to us, his alarm went off for 5 days straight, until my dad had enough and politely asked him to turn it off. He had no idea it had been beeping every 5 seconds for the past 5 days.

Catherine and Arthur totally did it! But she had to save her own skin...she probably regretted not being able to go home later. Mary Stuart was just bad :( Victoria's granddaughter Alix of Hesse married the tsar- Victoria's 2nd daughter Alice was her mother I believe

I would of totally done the same, but if she insisted so was a virgin I sure her Father would of arranged another marriage for her. I'm surprised she didn't go back after her Mother died but yet again her family was a little on the strange side lol

Ah good digging batwoman! I knew it was her daughter or granddaughter. The reformation of Russia hits my heart strings too, how they murdered the entire royal family in cold blood.
  • Reading about Russian revolution makes me sad and also gives me nightmares...scary stuff. There was also a grand duchess who married one of the Tsar's brothers who was related to Victoria (another granddaughter) she became a nun who helped save people during revolution. She was originally supposed to spared but was eventually killed anyway. She is a saint in Russian orthodoxy now.

The Russians are very interesting! Any royal family I love to read about. I'm trying to brush up in on my French History at the moment, but with our country going mad on the recent discovery of Richard III I've been reading a lot on the debate on his re-burial argument in the courts. I also love the intrigue of his nephews too, I personally think he had nothing to do with it and it was the Beauforts. I think Margaret had them killed in the tower siege she planned with Elizabeth Woodville, she was a very headstrong woman and would do anything to get Henry on the throne. I also feel very very sorry for his Queen, Elizabeth, to have Margaret as a MIL must of been hell!
  • Omg I've been following the Richard the III stuff too! I've always thought it was Margaret Beaufort who killed or was in on the nephew's murders!
I didn't mean to hijack your thread with history stuff but I love when I find someone who is interested and can talk about this stuff!
Do you like historical fiction? I love Phillipa Gregory :) I just finished her new book.

French history is tough! Everyone is so connected its hard to keep straight. I love some Marie Antoinette :) I really like Napoleon too :) and of course when Henry sent his youngest sister over to marry Louis XII
  • I was hooked on the story the moment they said they had permission to dig in the car park. And to see his back I was like OMG the rumours were true!

I will always believe it was Margaret, or she had something to do with it. It's not everyday I meet someone with the same mad interest as me! You are more than welcome to drop me a PM when ever you like, I can talk history all day!

I love Phillipa , I've got all her books. Are you going to watch the BBC TV adaption of The White Queen? I've heard it's going to the States. I was glued to my TV every Sunday night and they nailed the Cousins War series!
