My husband and I moved to Texas from Utah earlier this year for his job. We've been trying to get pregnant and I am currently 11 weeks. We needed the help of a fertility specialist so my first sonogram was done at their office at 5 weeks (due to my PCOS I ovulated 2 weeks later than planned). So at my initial appt with my OB/GYN I was only 7 weeks, they didn't do a sonogram because they said I wouldn't be able to see anything. Today, when calling to confirm my appt they let me know we weren't going to do another sonogram until 20 weeks. This is strange to me, my sisters are both pregnant in Utah and they are getting sonograms with every appt. When I asked my OB/GYN today she said that sonograms are not medically necessary so they won't be done. We are double covered, and both my insurances cover unlimited sonograms. I work in the medical community and I feel that since they are a simple, noninvasive test that is covered by my insurance there shouldn't be any reason not to have them done every appt, if for no other reason then to give me peace of mind. I have had other issues with her receptionist calling and threatening to cancel my appt the morning of, and today I found they haven't been billing my secondary insurance. I'm thinking I would like to find a new OB/GYN.
I am wondering a few things:
1. Am I being unreasonable expecting a sonogram every appt?
2. Any good recommendations for an OB/GYN who will do a sonogram every appt, that is in the Plano area who will deliver at Presby Plano
Any help that can be given will be greatly appreciated!!!!

I used Dr. Paul Payne in Frisco and Dallas, he was fantastic.. I had a high risk pregnancy so he did a sono with every visit... it was beautiful to watch may little man ggrow from a gummy bear to my little bear now... I loved my OB... seriously, I have now recommended everyone I know to him.
He also let me "birth without fear" followed all my requests and did not medically intervene despite my pushing for 2 hours... He was totally understanding of all my wishes and followed through 110%
I go to Dr. Watkins, she delivers at Plano Presby. I only had 3-4 sonos my entire pregnancy and yes it is very unusual to have a sono at every visit. I highly recommend Dr. Watkins, she is very patient and always takes her time answering all your questions. I also love that at almost every appointment, my wait time was usually 10-15 minutes. I had probably 10-15 appointments throughout my pregnancy so this was awesome!
Try Dr. Kelli Watkins at Presby Plano. She's great!!
