We found out today my dd needs her adenoids out and will be having surgery in a few weeks. Any tips for surgery day/recovery? How is your child now since having the surgery?
My son had his adenoids out when he had his second set of tubes put in. Recovery was pretty easy. After the surgery he ate popsicles (the nurse gave him as many as he wanted, until he vomited red popsicle...) We brought him home and he was pretty much acting like his normal self. We may have given him tylenol, I can't even remember. Aside from the bad breath that is a side effect I don't remember any issues.
Its been about two years, he's totally fine since. One tube is still in, one has fallen out. He has had no more ear infections.
Yup! DS1 had them out when he was 20 months. It went really well. He was groggy for a bit then his old self by that afternoon. He took Tylenol around the clock for 2 days. Good luck to your DD!
ETA: the breath thing is baaaaad. Their breath smells like burnt death for weeks.
Charlie had his out when he got tubes last summer. He was at daycare two days later, perfectly fine. Like PP said, the worst part was the horrible breath.
Good luck! Hope everything goes well! Since C got his out, he hasn't gotten a single ear infection or throat issue!
