How many ounces? — The Bump
Babies: 0 - 3 Months

How many ounces?

My LO was a preemie, born at 34 weeks. Currently he is eating around 2 & 1/2 ounces at each feeding. He now weighs around 7lbs and is 6 weeks old.

He has plenty of wet and dirty diapers, but just out of curiosity is there an amount babies should eat as they continue to grow?

Re: How many ounces?

  • My DS is eating twice as much as the pediatrician recommended but he wails if we don't give him more! The pediatrician just said let him eat when he wants it and how much he wants, as long as he's not spitting it back up because then it is too much.  Let your baby guide you..

  • My babe is 15 days...I feed her 3oz every 3 hours. I feel like its a lot, but pedi says if she is hungry, feed her. And she is always hungry!...doesn't spit up or throw up after feedings. The nurse also said 1oz per hour. So if you are going to do every 3 hours=3oz...2hours=2oz.
