Babies: 6 - 9 Months

Anyone else still not STTN?

DD will be 8 months tmw and she is still waking up at 4:30.  She doesn't really cry just like a playful whine.  We don't feed her but we do change her diaper.  She usually just goes back to sleep.  She wakes up between 6 and 7.  I put her down for her nap at 9:30 and she sleeps till 11.  Her next nap is at 1:30 and she will sleep till 2:30 or sometimes 3.  She is in bed asleep by 7.  DD1 was sleeping through the night at 6 months and had no problems.

Does anyone else still have this going on?  Or any tips?

  • DS is 7 1/2 months old and wakes 1-2 times a night. We feed and do not do a diaper change and he usually goes right back to sleep. I'm happy with this arrangement. It is a vast improvement on where we were before. Maybe you need to try a more absorbent diaper?

  • Yup.  LO still wakes up anywhere from 2am to 4am ... average, once a night, but I am not complaining bc I know it could be worse.   Trying to stay positive and hopeful! :P

  • Baby Girl is 7 months, goes to sleep peacefully (usually) around 8-8:30, and usually sleeps pretty soundly  until around 4-4:30, when she wakes up crying.  We give her the pacifier and a couple pats on the back, and she goes right back to sleep until she repeats it around 5:30.  then she's up for good between 6-7.

Our family practice has several different pediatricians that she sees,  one recommended that we let her cry it out instead of giving the pacifier, so she learns to put herself back to sleep.  the other recommends that we just keep doing what we're doing since she passes right back out.

  • I am totally convinced that DS will never STTN.  DD was the best sleeper ever and I falsely assumed that I had something to do with that.  DS was up at 12, 4 and 6 this morning.  This is most nights at our house.  Sleep?!  Who needs that?!

This is us now! We did have to where DS (8 months) would go to sleep between 8:30 and 9. Wake up around 2 or 3 for a bottle, which he would finish, and then sleep until 7 or 8. Last night he was asleep at 9, up at 10, 12, 3, 6 and 7. Its been like this for a week and I am absolutely exhausted. Sleep deprivation is the worst torture of all and my kid is a master at implementing it!! I'm hoping it is just an 8 month growing spurt or teething or something.

  • LO has a long first stretch, but is up 1-3 times over the 12h window. No diaper change, but nurses each time she wakes. She goes back to sleep easily so I don't mind.

  • My DD does the same thing and has the exact same sleep schedule, word for word!

When my DD wakes though, she eats.  It's usually 10 minutes and I halfway sleep through it.  I consider her to be STTN because she is sleeping 10-11 hours before waking.  My son woke up 5+ times per night until he was 16 months old...this is HEAVEN for me!!

  • DS2 is a terrible sleeper. Slightly better than DS1 was, but not much. His long stretch is 4-5 hours, then he's up anywhere from 2 to 4 times or just restless the rest of the night. I would give my left arm for a baby who just woke once.

  • We're up every 1-2 hours. I would kill to be getting up once a night.

  • My DD goes to bed around 6:30-7:30, wakes up between 10:30-11:30 to eat, wakes around 2:30 to eat and then again around 5-6 to eat. Stop complaining

  • Also, My DD only naps for 40 minutes twice a day. You are fortunate.

  • My 7mo old DD still wakes multiple times a night. We started bed sharing because of this and I get a bit more sleep.
