I have a 6 month old shepherd, newf st. bernard mix, today going down the stairs he decided to run through me, rather than around. He took my legs out from under me and I landed on my bum (with my cell in my pocket) and went down the last few stairs to the bottom. I got up and other than obviously being sore, seemed okay. Sh freaked out and wanted me to call the drs office and go in. So I did.
Dr couldn't find a hb, but he found the placenta and said it sounds really healthy. He says it's still early and I have a history of drs not finding it easy to use a doppler on my babies (I also think he was looking too low because he told me baby was the size of a pea and was looking just above my bikini line, when I showed him where the tech did my u/s and it was just below my belly button. He found the top of my uterus there too). I was in labour with my son and everything went into emergency mode b/c they couldn't find his hb anywhere. It was terrifying, then they put in an internal monitor and he was happy as a clam. little bugger.
SO given my previous history dr said it's not surprising and baby is probably at the back of my uterus making it more difficult. He said with no bleeding and the fact that I landed on my bum, he thinks everything will be fine. Go to the hospital if I have any bleeding and take it easy for 24 hours. (Tell that to my yet to be finished classroom), I guess some stuff will have to go up and be arranged tuesday before school.
But I am still worried he couldn't find the hb. I don't believe that dopplers are that popular in Canada (I don't know anyone that owns one at least), so I can't even borrow one to look for myself. I talked to DH he says, do what the dr says, stay home and relax tonight (I have to work tomorrow, at least for a little bit) and just don't do much tomorrow. I'm just worried something is wrong, although I felt that everything was fine all day, before the doctors appt.
Re: Freaking out a little - reassurance?
I'm sorry you are going through this, I would be on edge to about not finding the HB. But the baby is still quite small and very well protected in there so with landing on your bottom I think everything will be fine. Do you have another appointment coming up?
