Eggs **UPDATE**

Is your LO eating eggs? The pedi said we could just make scrambled eggs for him, but I've been told by friends/family to start with egg yolks or egg whites first. What did you do?

**UPDATE** Thanks for all your comments! We tried eggs and it definitely didn't go as smoothly as I had hoped. I didn't think he'd eat much, so I fed B his banana first. Usually we do some puffs after, so I gave him a few pieces of scrambled egg instead. He played with them for a few minutes, put 1 tiny piece in his mouth and gagged. I was watching closely and knew he wasn't choking bc it had only reached the middle of his tongue. I continued to encourage him to eat it, but he stopped, opened his mouth, looked me straight in the eye, then PROJECTILE VOMIT - on his tray, in his lap, on the floor, on the dog, everywhere! I feel terrible. B seemed to think it was funny. I gave him some water while I cleaned-up and then gave him a bath.

-- I think we will wait a few days before trying eggs again. And next time, we will try them on an empty stomach!

Re: Eggs **UPDATE**

  • DD likes scrambled eggs. She will eat hard boiled. Her favorite way to have eggs is in the form of an omelet with all the goodies.

Yes, we've done scrambled eggs for a while now. It used to be yolks first (or whites, not sure) because of allergy concerns. But they've changed the recommendations. You are good to go with the whole egg now. :)

  • Whole scrambled eggs. Or the yolk from a hard boiled egg because I don't like that part! No issues so far.

  • We did scrambled eggs, and he had an allergic reaction. Red blotches followed by hives on his face. They went away within a few hours, and he was breathing fine, but it still scared me. My SIL read that the whites are harder for him to digest, so maybe we should have just started with the yolk. Since it was scrambled, I don't know whether he is sensitive to the white or yolk or both, but I've tried introducing eggs in baked items, and he still had a reaction. So for now, we're just going to avoid them until after 1 year.

Sorry if this is Debbie Downerish. Maybe your LO will love them and have no issues, but it just didn't go that way for us. Good luck!
  • @kiraliz adorbs siggy pic, love it!!

We've done scrambled, and of course eggs in whatever but cooked.  Our pedi told us to wait until one year.

Benjamin had that reaction too. Haven't decided if I'll try just the yolk next or wait until a year.

  • We did whites first for 3 days, then scrambled. He really doesn't seem to like them either way...seems to gag on them no matter what. I will keep trying. He does well with lots of other textures. We will keep trying!

  • My little brother got really sick when he ate scrambled eggs under a year. I've given R the yolk of a hard boiled egg but I'm scared to give her a whole one.
