Pregnant after 35

5 Weeks and Tight Clothes???

I know it's been over 10 years since my last child was born ( I'm 41 and pregnant with my 3rd), but I don't remember have difficulty buttoning pants at this early stage.  EVERYTHING is tight!  Anyone else?

Re: 5 Weeks and Tight Clothes???

  • ugh me too with the 10 years since last and with the bloated belly!  Almost as soon as the pee stick turned + my belly felt swollen!  It is mostly gas/extra fluid and feels more than appears... Congrats!
  • I'm right there with ya! I swear I do not remember being this bloated and swollen with my first :(  I wore my regular pants with my first until I was around 7 months and I'm thinking with this one it will be earlier. I'm 9 weeks with our second and thank goodness it was eased some this week but by evening I still like I'm 7-9 months and can't bend lol

    And congrats!!!

  • I was a mess in first tri...between the bloat and constipation I looked so much more pregnant than I was, and my pants got uncomfortable very quickly. I started wearing maternity pants pretty early because it was just so much easier on my stomach. I had to roll my underwear down too because I couldn't stand the elastic touching my bump.

  • I am 39 and am 8 weeks along.  None of my regular pants fit me anymore so I feel your pain.  I have always had issues with my weight and was on Jenny craig before I found out I was pregnant.  The combination of eating regular food, quitting smoking, and being bloated, nauseous, and pregnant has really reduced my wardrobe to expandable pants.  Its horrible!  Here is to hoping feeling better in the 2nd trimester will help me lose some of this excess weight.  Good luck & know you are not alone!
  • With LO#2, I popped out before I even took a test.  Seriously, I was driving.  I looked down at my belly and thought, "Wow.  I look pregnant."  Sure enough, I got a BFP that afternoon.  Two coworkers who knew I was TTC asked a couple of weeks later because they noticed my little bump.
Yep - whether it's been 2 years or 12, your body remembers what to do :-)

  • I feel your pain. I haven't worn pants since week 7. Allegedly, the bloating will go away in 2nd tri. I finally broke down this past weekend and bought maternity clothes. I'm 11 weeks, yet look 5 months and currently enjoying my bloated thighs and waist.

  • It is so refreshing to hear everyone...I am 38, this is my 3rd, but the other two were years ago. They are now 20 and 17. I was bloated and gassy right away. I cannot wear my old pants even with those belly bands...it's very uncomfortable. I am hoping my belly magically turns into that pumpkin soon :)
I am 9 weeks pregnant now and I am so excited! This is my hubby's first.
