Babies' FB debut

This was an interesting little article I found this morning.

https://living.msn.com/family-parenting/the-family-room-blog-post?post=72b27172-087f-4d86-9d25-f76e095daccd

For myself, I actually made it a goal to keep my entire pregnancy off FB, and surprisingly succeeded! And then I waited a full week after Callen was born to "debut" him.

So J12, when did you debut your LO?

P.S. To clarify, what I did was simply a personal choice and I in no way judge those who do differently.

Re: Babies' FB debut

  • About an hour after birth. FB is my communication with family overseas. They deserved to know. And I'm an attention whore

  • LOL In the womb! Sonagram pics and especially his 4D ones..yeah they went up quick! After  he was born..like literally that minute. Big Frankie took a pic with his phone and straight to fb it went :)

  • after we told immediate family and close friends

  • We waited until we were home and DH uploaded the pics, so about 3 days after they were born. I didn't want to post anything while we were at the hospital to avoid having too many visitors.  So we just texted immediate family and close friends some pics.
  • I think DS made his appearance on FB about 8 hrs after his birth. That gave us time to tell friends and family and get some rest.

I announced on FB at almost 2nd trimester, but then didn't post much besides one bump picture (because people were asking!) at 37 weeks and his 4D pic. Then we waited until the day after he was born to post his picture because my mom and sister were gone until the next day and I didn't want any visitors at the hospital before they could see him. Also, we wanted to call all our family as well. PLUS, (my personal opinion is that) babies aren't that cute straight out of the womb. Am I wrong? Haha. So waiting an extra day helped I think, because looking at his "straight out of the womb" pic and the 1 day old pic, he's much cuter in the 1 day old pic ;) . I attached pictures to show that's true at least in Wesley's case :)

You're completely right.  A friend of mine posted his kid literally covered in blood and gore.  It was horrific.  Sometimes "natural" is not pretty, just look at a mole rat:
    Naked mole rat

which surprisingly looks like some babies who are fresh from the ute.
I think most babies look like old men who've been in the bathtub too long when they come out, and considering they've been basting in Ute Juice for 9 months, I'm half right.
    Agreed.

Yep, you nailed it. Just what I was thinking.

K is on there almost every day now, but it actually was at least the next day before he was "debuted". My sister posted a pic of him the next morning I think. I was too loopy on Morphine to do anything but cuddle my baby and then sleep. (darn C/S)

Oh, and we shared our pregnancy with friends and family at 12 weeks and put it on FB a few days later once we told everyone that we wanted to in person or over the phone.

  • We posted about the pregnancy after we told my parents at Christmas; I might not have done so but my Dad was DESPERATE to post it to his.

We posted a pic maybe about 1-2 hours after he was born.

  • We announced on FB with a sonogram pic at 12 weeks. Then after he was born DH posted screen shots from Skype within an hour.

  • I am not a huge FB poster in general so I kept almost all preg stuff of FB.  I think acquaintance FB friends only found out I was preg because a friend posted some maternity photos.  I waited several days to post a photo of LO and announce her birth.  I was really just trying to survive those first few days.
