Correction officer while pregnant

Hello all!
I am a correction officer and I just found out I am pregnant. My husband and I decided not to tell any one until the doctor gives us the "all clear". But my first prenatal appointment won't be until my 11/12 week. Is that too late to tell my boss in such a high risk and physically demanding job or is this perfect timing?!

I would call your doctor and go over your normal list of duties with him/her. They will tell you if anything should be restricted or modified.
