On maternity leave/stressed about work - vent

I'm a teacher and currently on maternity leave(will be going back to work in Oct.)  I realize this is my own fault for asking, but my grade level partner emailed me with a general hi, how are you doing, miss you at work, how's the baby, etc.  I emailed her back saying fine, I assume everything's going ok because my substitute has not contacted me.  I had met with my sub last month and told her she could email me if she had trouble finding things in my classroom or whatever.  I did that with my first maternity leave sub, and it was fine.  Partner emails me back and says oh, your sub left for another position, so we've had other people for the last couple of weeks.  Great.  So, now there really is no consistency in my classroom, and God knows what the subs are doing with my laptop and smart board(not all of them are trained).  I realize I can't do anything about it, so there's no point in worrying, but it's making me stressed.  I'm making a conscious decision not to think about work until I go back and am planning to basically start the year over. :(

  • That really stinks. On the plus side its early in the school year so you can start over. Try not to think about it, enjoy this time with your baby.

  • That is crappy, but I would say that you should try not think about it, and enjoy the time you have left with your baby as much as possible.

  • Ugh! I'm a teacher too and super type A so I feel your pain!

However, I agree with PP, don't even give it a second thought. Kids are still so pliable in October to procedures and rules, etc, so when you go back just treat it like the beginning of the school year, almost like September never happened! :P

  • Oh no!  I go on maternity leave in about a month, so this is a very fresh topic for me!

I agree with the rest, as hard as it may be enjoy that baby!  And who knows, maybe they will get an awesome sub with tech experience for the remainder of your leave.
