A va-jay-jay question

I'm going to Hawaii for our honeymoon (great timing no coconut umbrella drinks for me) but I was wondering about getting a Brazilian wax? I've read mixed things.. Figured I'd come to the room of experts!

Re: A va-jay-jay question

  • I think the concern is increased blood flow means more pain and swelling. I don't think there is any risk to you or the pregnancy.

  • I think it's fine to do but you will probably feel more pain or sensitivity due to increased blood flow. Ouch!

  • I had it done twice during my last pregnancy and I really didn't notice any difference. I'd go for it... even if it's more painful, it'll be over pretty quick, and then you won't have to worry on your vacation. Sounds like fun, BTW!

  • I just got one and it was fine.  A little more painful (like waxing after you've shaved) than usual, but totally manageable for me.

  • i read somewhere to apply orajel to the area before hand, but have no idea
  • I would just shave
  • I got a Brazillian 4 days before giving birth and it hurt like HELL (and I get them regularly while not pregnant). I was puffy and red for probably 48 hours. That said, not sure if that was just bc I was so far along or if the same would be true throughout pregnancy.

  • The concern would be your increased blood flow. And although your blood flow does start to increase around 7-8w, I would imagine its relatively low compared to end of pregnancy. My suggestion: if you get them regularly, go for it. If not...pack a razor and save yourself a possible mess.

  • I'm scheduled for one this afternoon. Being only 5 weeks shud I tell them in preggo?
  • I told my waxer I was a little over 6 weeks and she said, no problem I've waxed women when they were almost ready to give birth! She did not mention that they might have been screaming in pain. I just went for one and I'm just about 7w and didn't feel any difference in the pain level as of yet.
  • Mmm... Never heard of any concern. I got mine done through my whole pregnancy.
