Etiquette

H and I were invited to an engagement party this weekend. Now usually, we would bring a small gift but is that necessary for a couple who is throwing the engagement party for themselves?

Giftcard or even a bottle of wine or champagne (if they drink).

  • Traditionally, gift giving events are not thrown by the honoree(s), so if you want to go all Emily Post about it, this would not be a gift giving situation based on your description. Will other people bring gifts for the couple? Probably. Do with that what you will.
