When do you work out?

First thing in the morning, or later in the day? I really prefer first thing in the morning, because then I can get my shower in and be dressed and ready to go for the rest of the day, but since school started it hurts.

  • I work out with the kids mostly when the weather is nice. I take them out on the bike trailer, race my son on the playground equipment, or walk around the zoo/children's museum/aquarium. In the winter months when I do a more formal workout at the gym it's usually as soon as the childcare opens at 8.

  • Usually I run pushing Dylan in the stroller after taking the girls to school.  Not school day, it depends if the hubby is home.  It has been 90's here all week, so early it must be or the treadmill.
  • i've been going to the gym in the mornings but we go for walks during the day when it's not too hot. i'll go to the gym at night if i have to, but it's my least favorite option even though it gives me the biggest block of time. when i ran i liked to go early too unless HM training. i heart the sunrise <3
  • Usually around 9am if it's a work out day.  Need to eat a bit of breakfast first.  And past 9am, I tend to get "meh" about doing it.

  • I get up at 5:00 to workout before the kids wake up.  Now that both are in school, I might change that.

  • First thing in the morning is my preference but it just doesn't work for us right now.  DH works 3-11 most days (Except for the next month or two when he's training for his promotion) so we typically go to bed late and wake up at 9ish.  It is common for me to have some other commitment starting at 10 or 11.  So if I work out in the morning I am sacrificing sleep, family time, or something else I really want to do.  

    My second choice would be to workout right when DH goes to work but our crappy Y is the only option with childcare and they close the nursery from 11:45 to 4:30 on weekdays and ALL weekend. So, I shoot for 4:30 or so but I never feel like going by that time.

  • My son and I go for walks in the afternoon. I am not even almost a morning person.
  • I workout once LO is asleep for the night. She's been going to bed by 7:00pm so it works out well for me.

  • My son and I usually head to the gym around 4:30 and I work out from 5-6:30/7.  My husband doesn't get home until 8:30/9 at night so we NEED to get out of the house after his nap.

  • In the morning as soon as the child care opens, not really "first thing in the morning" for us since the kids are awake by 6:30.  I usually have time to get everyone ready for the day and tidy up the house first.
