Registry options- negative review for Target

I have had a really difficult time using Target for my baby gift registry.  Their website simply does not work at times, their customer service is not very helpful, many items are not available either in the store or online.  I didn't experience any of these problems with my wedding registry, for example.  I don't have any experience with other options for a baby registry but if I had it to do over again, I would not go with Target.

Re: Registry options- negative review for Target

  • Yeah, when I was registering for my wedding Target and Kohl's were consistently the worst reviewed registries to have. They can be a pain to buy off of because stores stocking different stuff. I know for some people it works out, but the negative reviews far outweigh the good.

  • Yeah, I love Target but had trouble with both my bridal and baby registries.

  • Yep! This is exactly why I found and registered with myregistry.com. Not only can you add ANY item from ANY store you want, but its so easy to use. Plus their customer service is always available and is super helpful towards my guests. I'm very happy with it!
  • I had a horrible time with my Target wedding registry. Although Target has some great items that I would love to register for, I will not be registering there for my baby shower.  We will just get the few items we really want there ourselves.

  • Yeah, it's a real PITA even to just view or manage the registry I've already created there.

I loved registering with Amazon and only threw in Target so people will have a brick-and-mortar option for shopping. Target reaches the most people for me, as not everyone has a BBB or BRU near them.

But, yes, it sucks and should be better

  • Target sucks all the way around.

    My amazon.com registry rocked.

I also registered at BRU which was...okay.  I did it all online.  I hate the stores.  I would have preferred BBB but the prices are higher so it just didn't make sense.

FWIW, BBB will price match and they take Bed, Bath and Beyond coupons and are always mailing me 20% off coupons in the mail.  I don't feel I spend more there than I would at BRU or anywhere else.  And for the record, I bought some bottles there once and went to buy some more at Amazon and they were 3 times the price on Amazon than they were at BBB.  I've noticed that for several other items as well.

I see it posted quite a bit about BBB, IMO they just don't sell as much cheap crap that BRU does.

Damnit, I could really use a BBB near me!

  • I registered at Target for both my wedding and baby shower, I don't have any complaints. As far as things being online-only, the website clearly says that.

And apparently Target's "Wants 1, Received 1" is hard for people to comprehend. I have received 3 pack n plays, 2 swings, and 2 sets of crib bedding. Good gosh. I'm now deleting items that have been purchased to reduce people's confusion. Amazon hides fulfilled items, so that hasn't been a problem on the other registry.

I know it's a comprehension fail on the part of my friends/family, but that that many folks got it wrong tells me the set up is off.

    ETA Clarifying, Target.
