Bad gas

My son is having a lot of gas trouble. He is breastfed and occasionally we're adding in solids, but nothing regular, once a week for now. He is now no longer pooping every day and is straining to pass gas multiple times a day. When he is able to pass it, it stinks to high heaven. He's not sleeping well, so I'm thinking the as is also negatively affecting his sleep. My diet hasn't changed, so I'm not really sure what is causing the major gas problems.
