I was just reminded of how easy it is to say the wrong thing to a pregnant woman.

I met a friend for lunch the other day. I had heard a rumor that she was pregnant, but I didn't know if it was true because we are from a town where someone could put on a pound or two so, of course they MUST be pregnant.

When I saw her, it was clear she had a bit of a belly, but it wasn't clear that it was a baby belly.

So when she told me, I said I had heard a rumor but didn't want to ask in case it wasn't true. Then I said, "You really don't look pregnant!"

Way to go, Stupid. Now she's going to think she just looks fat. Because that's how I felt when people said that to me.

I want to kick my own ass.
