Decorating DS2's room

We are moving, and DS2 will have his own room for the first time.  He said he would like to do Spiderman, but I know that it will change over the years.  I found some Spiderman sheets, but thought I would do one of the following for the comforter.  Then, in the future, I can just change the sheets for the theme.

1) plain blue duvet cover

2) striped quilt

Which do you like best?  There is $100 difference, but I could turn in some cc points for a Pottery Barn gift card.

Also, I found some Spiderman curtains.  Would you do those or plain?

I would do a plain comforter, as you said you will get more use out of it. If you can find cheap spiderman drapes I would do that as change them as you change themes.
