I had my second session with my physical therapist today for my sciatic nerve pain. My low back is feeling a good bit better thankfully but they said it would very likely catch again if I'm not careful. Two weeks ago I couldn't even move it was hurting so bad. So now I get to tell DH tonight that on doctor's orders I'm no longer allowed to unload the dish washer or put clothes in and out of the washer and dryer. Apparently its the lifting while bending/ twisting that can really set it off. I will gladly make this "sacrifice" if its what's best for the baby.

Re: Doctor's orders that I actually like!
Hopefully you have an amazing H to help keep up!
Baby Chugging born 12.28.13
induction due to HELLP
Well the first time it happened I couldn't even leave the house to go in to see the PT until it had calmed down enough that I could walk. It took a couple of days trying to ice it as much as possible and lay down. Then when I did see the PT they showed me streches to do to help relax those muscles and then excercises to help strengthen my low back muscles. Apparently if you start getting this problem in the beginning it will likely come back throughout pregnancy and even just after birth, but if you keep up with the stretches you can hopefully avoid it getting terrible. As far as the chores go, lifting is a big no no and I was told just to watch your movements all the time. Try to keep your toes square with your shoulders. If you twist your back don't keep your feet planted. Your toes must turn with your body. Hope this info helps! And tell your DH to help you with any bending and lifting.

Hope you're feeling better! I've found that some of the basic standing stretches they recommend are great done in the shower with the warm water on your back.
