Potty Training

At a loss and need some advice...

My son has always been a relaxed child crawling at 13 mos and walking at 17 mos.   When starting potty training we waited for the "signs" that still haven't come and he will be 3 in October!  One night after a bath we tried to get him to go and he did so we took it as a sign to start (this was in January).   Since then he has done fine with going pee in the potty but we have never gotten the whole poop thing down.  He now refuses to go potty altogether and every try is a fight.  We decided to take the summer off and see how things go later on.  Well nothing has changed.  Kiddos has no desire to do it himself- we pull his pants up and down.  We make him go every few hours.  He wears a diaper at night and at naptime (he stays dry about 50% of the time during nap but never at night).

My concern is that he poops in his underware every day.  Not only that but he has no idea he did it and doesnt ask to be changed- nothing.  We have tried naked training and he just poops on the floor.  If I put him in a pull up he pees in it too and I feel like we are backtracking.  I stay home with him so there is no need for him to be trained but I feel like 3's are hard enough as it is to try to do this.  Does anyone have any insight as to what is going on and how I can help him?

  • I would try this. When he starts to poop take him right to the potty and tell him that is where he needs to go I worked for my dd. Best of luck. Tell him no popo in his pants.
