Honestly I'm not too worried about listeria from milkshakes, but we just got a Steak 'n Shake, and those shakes are awesome! Also I've been loving the half off shakes at Sonic after 8pm. Also in n out has great shakes. I just kind of love milkshakes
I wash my vegetables. Last time I washed a milk shake I spoiled it.
Cute. I assume you also go into the kitchen of every resurant you eat at to make sure they wash them too right? Unless you eat only at home your logic is flawed especially since we were talking about soft serve from resturants.
Seriously? You're this invested in what other women choose to eat/not eat?
I think the restaurants I eat at generally do a better job washing their vegetables than mcdonald's does washing their soft serve machine, yes. That being said, if I wanted a milkshake it being made with soft serve probably wouldn't stop me. However, since OP asked . . .

You must never have seen the kitchen of some big chain sit down resturants. My point is you take a risk with soft serve or vegetables. People get so up in arms about lunch meat and soft serve when veggies are usually the culprits of an outbreak. If you are going to freak about the small stuff in pregnancy at least know facts.

Here's my take on the fear that comes with listeria.
In the US, about 1,600 people get it. That's like 1 in 200,000. And if 1 out of 7 of those cases are pregnant women then that means you have like a 1 in 28,000 chance of getting listeria. (these numbers are not exact, of course)

Facts vs hysteria. Facts win everytime sorry I am not blowing sunshine us your ass.
I don't see anyone acting hysterical. If someone would rather avoid soft serve that's hardly hysteria.
Buying into the hysteria that pregnant ladies can't have lunch meat or soft serve meanwhile not thinking twice about veggies. Education and knowledge a little goes a long way.
When I was at the doctor's office today, the nurse was going over everything I can and can't eat, and I asked about soft serve.. she looked at me like I was CRAZY! She said she had never heard of that.
I think friendly's makes them with hard Ice cream. And carvel, if you ask them to (I did the other day! ) the risk may not be high but I'm being pretty strict about what I eat, as long as I can still get my ice cream! I also got a hot tip on a local froyo place that cleans their machines every single day!
Again, I don't see the hysteria. I do avoid pre prepared salads and the like. And like I said,if I really wanted a milk shake I would probably have it regardless, but that's just me. Everyone can do their own risk analysis, it doesn't have to agree with yours or mine. Plus the risk of veggies is somewhat balanced by the benefits. Less so with ice cream and deli meat.
If someone wants to avoid a possible source of contamination that's easy to avoid, who cares?
Just because people disagree with you doesn't make them uneducated.

So basically, if I want a soft serve ice cream or a turkey sandwich then I'm gonna get it. And maybe I don't wash my veggies the best.
