lopsided tummy - possibly a totally lame question.

I am 18+ weeks and the right side of my tummy (just next to my belly button) is significantly higher than my left side. My twins are presenting with baby A on the left in a breach position and baby B on the right with his/her head down.... so 69 exactly if you are looking at me straight on. Which seems weird, you would think baby A's head would be bigger on left side rather than Baby B's feet on the right. They seem to always measure about the same at my OB's office, and we have an MFM appt this Thursday for more accurate sizing. Anyway - anyone else with such a dramatic lopsided stomach? Normal?

  • They are still able to flip-flop! Who knows what position they are in now!

  • My belly has been bigger on the right my whole pregnancy. A hangs out on the right and B is right in the middle.

  • The right side of my stomach is usually bigger too, although both are head down.  The baby on my right (although labeled Baby A for consistency, it's actually currently in non-presenting position, so Baby B is much lower) is actually slightly smaller, but seems closer to the surface of my stomach and likes to push out against my stomach, too.  In my case, lopsided is normal and a baby feeling larger from the outside doesn't correlate with actual size; the baby that feels larger on my right is actually smaller.  Hope that makes sense; I'm not doing a very good job of explaining.

  • Thanks!! I was thinking, hmm, I hope this doesn't mean some discordance issues - but good to know it has no bearing on baby size. I figure with placentas and such, there is a lot going on in there. For some reason I didn't think they could still flip - but hey why not! We shall see on Thursday!

Interesting it is all of our right sides - wonder if there is any science behind that.

Initially, my kids were lying one on top of the other like bunk beds. Then at 18 weeks, little girl decided to move to my right side under my ribs. She flips between head down and head up, Her brother remains lying horizontally at my pelvis. He flips between head down and breech.

I look like an egg when I look down. Although we still have time, I think we will have to do a c-section because they keep moving in response to each other.

  • This is a birds eye view of my bump 2 weeks before I had them. So 34 weeks, roughly. Mine were positioned EXACTLY like yours! If I layed on my right side and then stood up, everyone shifted right and the left side was "empty" looking. If you see the linea line that is the middle of my stomach so I would say that lopsidedness is TOTALLY normal!

  • Whoa! wild tummy shot!

I have been sleeping on my left side - that must be pushing them to the right! I am feeling lots of kicks on the right today (unusual, usually on the bottom left) so maybe its a party on the right today lol - aww! little ones, can't wait to meet them in a few months!!

  • I am like this too...I think it is b/c the side that Baby B is on is higher b/c she sits so much higher (and is breech). Baby A is way donw low on the other side, but head down...it is very odd to look down and it be like that though :)

  • @JordanLeighx3, I was just getting ready to post my lopsided bump picture too! Haha! Mine were also in the ying yang position.

  • I was lopsided also. Baby B hung out on my right side while A was breech and in the middle. B laid prone over A almost. Almost all movement was in the middle or to the right.

Even my stretch marks are lopsided. I have way more on my right side than left.

I was totally lopsided.  My "a" baby was head down and centered in my belly.  My 'b' baby was transverse with his head pushing out of the left side of me and his bottom sticking out at the top of my belly.  My top and leftside felt hard and my right side was soft.
