At what age did you stop using baby lotion on your LO?

I still put baby lotion all over DD after baths and she will be 3 next week.  Am I doing something that is no longer necessary?  I am just curious as to what age you all stopped doing this?

  • I use coconut oil on her every day.

  • Oliver still gets lotioned twice a day because he has eczema.  I don't see how it can hurt to keep putting lotion on your LO.

  • Ok thanks ladies.  I was thinking the same thing.  I want her to have good skin.  Plus, she has struggled with eczema on and off.

  • DD is 3 and I use the same stuff on her that I use on 5 mo ds.
  • When he stopped sitting still long enough for it so like 13 months.

  • For both DDs - never used baby lotion.  For DD#1 - I would use Aquaphor just when she had eczema spots that would break out but otherwise, none.

For DD#2, same - Aquaphor if she has eczema - but she has been clear so far but I am sure once she is eating more solids there will be an increase if she is anything like her sister.

  • DD is 17 months and we still do after every bath. I don't see any reason to stop and her skin still gets a little scaly if we don't. I have dry skin and she seems to as well. Also, I love how it calms her and I love the smell of the bedtime lotion!

  • Its the opposite for my daughter. She fights me and crys when i try to put lotion on her, but I continue to do it because I want her to have soft skin and hopefully it help her keep her exzema under control.

  • Connor is still "little" but he gets a lotion massage everynight before bed. He loves it and I love the yummy baby smell. :x

  • I didn't use regularly it past the newborn stages. Just if he was looking dry. I have coconut oil though.. Tell me, are there benefits to it other than super soft skin?
  • I only put baby lotion on DS for about a month.  DS had really bad skin issues and was diagnosed with eczema, so we started using Cetaphil cream.  His skin issues are pretty much resolved, but I still use the Cetaphil, because it really works and keeps his skin clear.
