Speech Delay - 27 weekers

My twins both have speech delays.  They were born at 27 weeks and have just turned 2 this month.  My daughter only says "mama" "more" "dada."  That's about it... she makes a lot of noises and babbles a ton but no other formed words.  My son does have more words.  He says, mama, dada, juice, milk, more, door, lawnmower (weird, I know), and some others.  He definitely tries to sound out words and I'm seeing definite progress with him.  Any advice or anyone been in a situation like mine?  When did your little one(s) take off talking?  We are in speech therapy with them and are signing with them as well.  Signing is going okay... my son is more interested than my daughter.    I know I'm not supposed to compare my kids to other kids... but I'm just curious!  Thanks.

  • Just a lurker here. My brother was early, and didn't say anything except "mama," "dada" and "sissy" until he was nearly 2 and a half. Then, he suddenly started speaking in sentences. Now, he works in intelligence. My mom was so worried about it at the time, but it all worked out fine. GL with your LOs.
