NBR Prayers for a friend

A friend of mine I used to work with has 3 young children--2 girls and a little boy--3, 2, and 1. Her DH was diagnosed a year or so ago with Brain Cancer. They moved him into hospice care last week. Doctors say not much longer than 2 weeks.

My heart is heavy for her and her family. She sent a message via FB tonight asking for ideas. Her DH wants to give his 2 girls and his son a piece of jewelry this week as he says goodbye to each of them. They need ideas on what? Any thoughts. I suggested lockets for the girls, but am at a loss for their son.

Also, If you can, please send some prayers and strength their way. I can't even imagine..... Those three babies loosing their dad, that dad knowing he is leaving them, or my friend loosing a husband at 32 years old.

Going to head to bed and count my blessings tonight. And I won't care how many times V wakes up to be cuddled. I will just thank God that I can cuddle him.

Re: NBR Prayers for a friend

  • This breaks my heart!!! Hearing things like this makes you really count your blessings!! I'm so sorry to hear this about your friend I hope she can find comfort and strength to get through this to stay strong for him and their children. I think the globe of a picture with him in it is a great idea!! They also have finger print charms you can buy so they can have his finger print. We sell out of them where I work for new babies and also for people who have passed and people love them!

  • I was thinking a bracelet that could be engraved with dad's signature or message for all of them.
I agree with everyone that this story is a heartbreaker. I will be keeping the family in my thoughts and prayers.

  • I also thought of a watch or a pocket watch.

But I love the idea of "love, Dad" in his writing on something. I know I would like that.

There is also a seller on Etsy that does a finger print in silver or gold. We had one done for Dh's mother a few years ago of his print while he was deployed.
  • What a very sad situation. I don't have any suggestions that haven't already been mentioned. Keeping her family in my thoughts.

  • I am sorry to hear about your friends husband. That has to be extremely difficult. I think a nice watch would be a very good gift for a son. He could have it for a lifetime.

  • I agree that a watch would be a good idea for their son. If they could get it engraved with dad's handwriting, that would be very sweet.

  • Thank you all. I saw my friend tonight and passed on all the suggestions. She was very grateful. I just gave my DH a big kiss and hug. I need to remember how I feel tonight when I'm annoyed with him about something. Thanks again.
