Moby Wraps

Do you have one? Have you used one? Are you registering or buying one? I'm not gonna lie, they look intimidating to me!

Re: Moby Wraps

  • Love love LOVE mine for the squishy baby stage. I followed Youtube tutorials to learn to tie it. After a little trial and error, we were good to go. I would tie it up before we left the house, drive with it on, and then pop E in when we got to our destination. I liked it better than lugging her carrier around.

I registered for the k'tan because its supposed to be more user friendly (easier to figure out how to put on) than the moby. Here's a link: https://site.babyktan.com/m/index.php

I had both a k'tan and moby (and also a beco). I like the moby for the newborn stage. I didn't really like the k'tan. I never felt like it was secure enough so I always had a hand on DS. My favorite by far is the beco. I start are using it when DS was a few months old and still use it with him.

Bummer!! Maybe I need to keep looking/thinking about it, thank you :)

  • I registered for the moby. I plan on using it during the early newborn stage and then the ergo when baby is big enough.

I have a Moby. Did not have it for Ds, but have used it with my nephew.

Oh, and I have an ergo.

  • Thanks ladies, now a follow-up question, how long will I realistically be able to use this for LO? 3 months? 6 months? Longer?

I LOVE my k'tan! I would definitely recommend it over the moby. And yes, I have tried both. :)

  • I didn't buy the moby with DS until he was two months old and used for another 6 months. I will use it with this baby and then use the ergo I got a fantastic deal on for later. I love that both DH and I could use both wraps.

  • I did not use one with DD but I bought one this time around.  I've practiced a few times and its not as hard as it looks.  One of my friends is currently using one with her newborn and the baby looks so cozy in there!  I think it makes them feel like they are back in the womb :)

  • I registered for the Boba Wrap and I'd like to get the Mei Tai carrier when baby is a little older. Sorry I don't really have any experience with any wraps but I've heard good things about the Moby! :)
  • I loved my Moby. Used it from 3 days old until maybe 5 months? After that I used a Beco Butterfly 2 and then ring slings and Mei Tais. I got a Ktan, too, but I seriously could not figure it out. Once I practiced the Moby a couple of times, it was easy.

  • A friend who just had a baby uses her boba wrap all the time and loves it so that's the one I registered for. I also put on my list the pognae carrier which is just like the ergo but seems a better fit for shorter people. And the back unzippers to allow air flow which in Florida is a plus.

  • I have one and practiced with stuff animals before LO got here, which I think helped. The first couple tries I had someone help me. I didn't use it much cause I have the only baby that cried averytime I tried to put her in. Hoping this baby likes it! :-)

  • Planning to get a Moby or some other type of newborn-friendly wrap since I expect to baby wear quite a bit this time around.

  • I had/have a Moby for the first 6-8 months, then we have an Ergo. I love them both. And ditto PPs who suggested YouTube videos to learn to tie it.

  • I loved the Moby and used it for probably the first 5 months or so and then switched to an Ergo. I'm really looking forward to using the Moby again with this baby! It's really not difficult to put on after you do it a couple times/

  • I have one from dd. didn't use it but once or twice because I couldn't get used to it but I plan on watching some videos on it to get it down this time. I'm really hoping to use it with this LO since I'm sure i will be chasing my dd around.

I believe I swapped E to the Ergo around 6-7 months. She had better head control by then. I'm sure you could go longer, I just started getting paranoid about the tie not being tight enough (she was a chunker).

  • My boba wrap was the only way I got any housework done. I used it for about 9 months I think.

  • I used my Moby consistently from newborn until 6-7 months and occasionally until 10 months, when we finally bought an Ergo. Definitely loved my Moby for those early months and even DH got pretty good at wearing it.

  • We originally had an Ergo with infant insert and DS hated it. He also hated the stroller. SIL has a Boba wrap (similar to Moby but stretchy). She showed me how to wrap it, and DS loved it. We used the Boba wrap until DS was 6 months and then transitioned happily to the stroller and Ergo.
